I have a son and he's 16 now. He was diagnosed with ADHD since he's 6. It's been quite a journey for both myself and my ex-wife. His relationship with his mom went downhill, because she didn't really know how to keep herself under control and ended up having a lot confrontation with him. He's a bit more matured but does poorly at school. He used to take Ritalin and I strongly opposed it and he is off now. What you need to do is to find what food that he's allergic to. I'm not an expert, so you may want to dig in and find out more from reliable sources. If you change your child's diet strictly on raw vegetables and fruits for 2 weeks in a row, you may notice some difference in behavior. There are many ways to deal with ADHD naturally without medication. You can just browse around the internet and get some information. It's solely my experience in that I find the psychiatrist did not help my son at all. She just prescribed Ritalin and then another medicine for him. It didn't help one bit. I'm glad he's off now and he seems to ok without it.
Good luck.
