Question about sweeteners - Out of desperation while at work yesterday I used artificial sweetener (sweet n low) in my tea, and today I wanted more lemonade but didn't have maple syrup with me, so I used some sweetener again. I had my concerns about it anyway, and after reading some things here I'm realizing I shouldn't have done so...Have I affected my fast negatively by doing this?

Do without the artificial sweetener   by niffer   17 year

Your fast will not be affected too seriously as long as you don't eat solid food. Artificial sweeteners are not good for you I dont care what studies have been done by whoever. Its as plain as day in the title ARTIFICIAL sweetener. The body does not recognize these "fake" foods as anything useful so it stores it as waste. As long as you don't continue to use the art. sweet. You should be fine, the lemonade will flush it out. But you want to get deeper than what your putting in your body with the lemonade. The waste is removed in layers (the way it is built up in layers)in reverse effect. If the body has to keep burning off the most immediate layers (because you are putting back in just what you are taking out) then you are not going to get as deep of a cleanse as you could be getting. Your best bet would be to do without the sweetener or at least use honey.
