Celebrated Canadian intuitive, Douglas James Cottrell ("the man with the X-ray eyes"), whose remarkable abilities have been featured in The National Examiner as well as on innumerable national radio and television programs (and who has been called "one of the most accurate intuitives I have ever met" by the publisher of one of America's largest new-age magazines), now reveals the intricate inner workings of the unseen spiritual world in his new book, Secrets of Life.

Secrets of Life was written in a way that no other book has been written before. Cottrell put himself into an altered state of consciousness called Deep Trance Meditation (DTM). While in this state, Cottrell has the unique ability to access a heavenly realm known as the Akashic Records or the Book of Life. While in this state, his son, Douglas M Cottrell, posed questions such as "Is there a heaven?" "What is God?" and "What is the purpose of life?" The result is a book explaining all the secrets of the universe - information that has never been confirmed in this way before.
In fact, the information so amazed Cottrell himself that he said some of it was a secret even to him. Secrets of Life explains in plain language everything you ever wanted to know about God, the soul and the spiritual world that surrounds us. These are the elusive questions that sages and religious leaders have been grappling with for ages.
Never before has any author been able to so clearly articulate these "Secrets of Life" (and how they affect each of us in our everyday, modern lives) in such a matter-of-fact and easy-to-understand way. Cottrell pledges to each and every reader that the information contained in Secrets of Life will "change the very fabric of their lives." Regardless of your religious faith or spiritual beliefs, this is truly a book for everyone.
Excerpts from the book 'Secrets of Life'
(From CHAPTER 3: MIRACLES, pp. 42-43)
When there is disease in a body one moment, and it has vanished in the next, some would say that a miraculous healing has taken place. A miracle is generally perceived as some event that is unsolvable or unchangeable; something done without any process, somewhat “magically;” having the great hand of God upon it - for our conscious minds cannot understand how someone with a great physical deformity can be instantly transformed into perfect health. But could such a healing simply be an acceleration of the natural occurrences of the body? When someone cuts an arm, normally it takes 3 days for a scab to form and the scar to be healed. What if the process could be sped up from 3 days to 3 seconds? Miracles are, indeed, such a process.
Matter is controlled by thought. Matter does not automatically “know” what to do. It needs a thought to direct it. When matter is controlled or directed by a thought so powerful, so ordered, and so knowledgeable, damaged cells will virtually align themselves or direct themselves to be replaced, replenished and healed, restoring health.
Understand that the mind is the builder and the mind is the way. What is held in the mind is manifested in physical form, both in yourself and in others. If there is a great unity of minds focussed on a single thought, then the thought becomes so great that the consciousness of the damaged cell is raised to its normal vibrational rate and to a state of perfection or healing. Instantly done, a miracle occurs. For when you appeal to God (and the creative forces), disease is very little. It is simply being “ill-at-ease” with what is natural, correct or perfect (for perfection and growth are of God). Miracles remove the dis-easement and re-establish ease; the end result being healing. God, angels - any interested soul - may also be called upon to intervene in your life or assist in the relief of pain and the healing of a body: physical, mental, and spiritual. For God is a loving and just God. God would have none suffer - save for those who chose to do so themselves.

From CHAPTER 5: REINCARNATION, pp. 64-66)
As the name implies, re-incarnation is a re-entering into the flesh; it is taking life as a human being (once again) to meet those things that your soul must meet while in the flesh. When you physically die, there is an in-between place where your soul goes prior to entering into another body. Physical death, therefore, should be thought of as a rebirth of your spiritual self into a body once again. The process, therefore, is an on-going cycle of physical life - physical death - spiritual life - spiritual death.
The Purpose
Your soul, therefore, has a purpose for entering into a body in the way that it does. Over many lifetimes, you would incarnate in different cultures, and in different parts of the world. You would also switch genders, switch roles, and switch social standing so that, in the end, you might understand completely what is meant by the experience of physical life. The purpose of taking on physical flesh is, indeed, to experience physical life. As you do so, you are given the opportunity to enhance the ever-lasting emotion of love, and to overcome the weaknesses within yourself that are the end result of the original sin of separation, which was the separation of souls from God.
The soul, once given free will and free choice, left the comfort, safety, and sanctuary of the God-head and went out through the universes to experience for itself independent life, independent search for knowledge, and the sensation of physical experiences. You might consider this “the downfall” or “temptation.” The soul became confused and lost its way as it took on the various vibrations, experiences, textures, and manifestations of material objects. You may think of this as the high, pure vibration of your soul becoming tarnished. It fell from piety and perfection into something less than perfect. From these depths, the soul became alone and was in despair. And from this point, the soul attempted to find its way back to God. It invoked the Law of Grace and repented. In short, it asked for help. There was a consideration or intervention from the God-head, and a way back towards perfection was established. Since that time, your soul has followed this course, meeting all things that it had met before, so that you might gain the knowledge of physical life and come to the greater understanding that you want to unite again in heaven and with God.
Unconditional Love
From that perspective, taking on life in physical form as a human being can be considered as the expression of emotion. Emotions are of this dimension alone, and hence are temporal. Love is the only exception. Love is the only emotion that transcends the physical world. It is the only emotion that advances into the higher realms of the spiritual aspects. It is the purest form of God. Therefore touching upon pure love - love that comes without conditions or consequences, love that is always forgiving (in other words, unconditional love) - is what each of us attempts to do as we experience physical life. And as we touch upon unconditional love in ourselves, our souls might ascend to a higher level.
The physical world is a world of duality or extremes: light and dark, good and bad. The objective of your soul as it migrates through the physical world and physical life is to find a way to progress, in a balanced way between these extremes. This means putting limits on desires; finding a way to be temporal; and being tolerant of all things. Your attitude and reaction to physical events either move your soul forward (or progress), prevent your soul from moving at all (or to stagnate), or move your soul backward (or regress). Consequently, most souls struggle forward and backward as they attempt to move through the different levels of human experience: self awareness, self realization, full realization. Being fully realized is the highest level: to be conscious of yourself as a spiritual being while in the physical flesh. Those who make it to this level are considered saints or avatars: God in the flesh.
