From the Publisher
We currently live in a time where the majority of hospitals, universities, medical professionals and other officials assigned the job of explaining the process of health to us lay people, believe that the cures to our symptoms are pharmaceutical drugs. Where the key to breast cancer is just a few billion dollars away in further drug research. And where parents and teachers have been bilked into believing that our children--our country's future leaders--learn better with behavioral modification chemicals coursing through their blood stream.

Scott's book is designed to verify two things: how misguided and damaging this drug approach is; and how easy it is to experience first hand the profound relationship between our diet and our health. He does this by walking you through a day in the life of an average person's "nutritional program", so that the reader sees, very clearly, how utterly crazy our approach to health has become. He then points the finger of responsibility directly where it belongs, and lays out a 28-day nutritional cellular cleansing program. This program starts anew on the first of every month (each and every month), and goes for exactly four weeks. You join people from around the country who are doing their cleanse at the same time that you are.

From the Author
I wrote this book not to espouse a theory, but to describe the main reason why I have not had to used a single antibiotic or prescription drug in the past 26 years. The reason isn't because of "positive thinking" or sheer luck, but because of a nutritional tool that was taught to me in my early twenties, called Nutritional (or Cellular) Cleansing.

Many people may have heard of cleansing before, but most have been exposed to a version that required fasting. This is completely unnecessary. This 28 day "working person's cleanse" is not about suffering, or starving yourself, and does not require "taking vitamins". It is a sane, economical, educational and whole food/superfood-based program that helps the remove built-up metabolic waste, and then feeds the cells re-mineralized, re-bacterialized, and re-enzymized nutrition that it is missing. These two simple actions?decreasing the sludge foods and increasing the "Three R" foods ?will give you the physical, undeniable experience of the power of cellular regeneration? which is nothing but our body's natural ability to heal through little else than a change to better nutrition. You will learn that your body's symptoms were not there because of a lack of drugs and drug research. They are, and were all along, a cry for real nutrition.

Buy my book! I promise that you find it inspiring, motivating, and make you want to do the changes that you have been wanting to do. Then, go online and join the hundreds of others who've been doing the monthly program. Read the testimonials. Then do the program yourself. By doing so, and armed with nothing but your own undeniable physical changes and experience, you will play a vital role in bringing common sense back to our understanding of how health works.

From the Inside Flap
"As a Registered Nurse since 1967, I was increasingly bothered by traditional medicine's dependence on pharmaceuticals. I first heard about this NACHO cleanse from a friend who invited me to join her during the 28-day program. The instructions were simple: remove toxic and stressful foods and replace them with highly nutritious ones... Much to my surprise, after three weeks of literally pigging out on vegetarian soups, casseroles, smoothies, and fresh organic munchies, I had a very positive report. I had lost an average of two pounds a week, no longer needed a caffeine kick at the end of a long day, and I could care less if I ever crossed paths with anything containing sugar. I have learned more about realizing a healthy existence from Scott than I ever learned in nursing school. Healthy people are happy people; and fun to be with. I encourage any person interested in feeling better to try out this inner spring cleaning and enjoy the results."

About the Author
Scott Ohlgren is an enthusiastic student, teacher, and beneficiary of the natural healing paradigm. Raised in the heart of Wisconsin ("The dairy state"), where Spam and Velveeta cheese could make up an entire dinner, his introduction to to the diet-disease connection came about just in time. At the age of 19, tired of acne and sinus problems, a friend shoved a book into his hands, saying, "Change your diet, and those symptoms will go away." Five weeks later, they were gone.

What Scott had learned, by sheer luck, was the effect that real food and cleansing could have on the body's ability to heal.

From that point on, periodic cleansing became a central part of his life and is the reason why he hasn't used a single antibiotic or prescription drug since 1975. He has since become an outspoken proponent, lecturer, and author for a drug-free, pain-free, and disease-free life, using real food nutrition as ones "main medicine cabinet."

In 1985, Scott studied whole foods nutrition at the 9-month Kushi Institute Graduate Program, and later worked with nutritional counselor Steve Gagné (author of The Energetics of Food). Scott also became a certified Rolfing Practitioner (Rolf Institute, Boulder, Colorado) in 1988. His writings have appeared in the Bay Area Monthly, was interviewed in Success Magazine (July, 1998), and he has sold over 10,000 tapes, videos and books on the diet/disease connection. Scott's first book, the 144 page 3Phase Manual (Published by ColorQuest, Durango, CO) sold over 68,000 copies. Each month, his online 28-Day NACHO (North American Clean the Hell Out) cellular cleansing program takes hundreds of participants through the same process that he learned 25 years earlier.

Scott will be the keynote speaker for the 2003 annual meeting of I-ACT (the International Association of Colon Hydrotherapy), held in Snowbird, Utah, June 11-14th.

Scott's mission is to create the La Leche League of nutritional understanding; to empower lay people like himself to realize that the role of healer belongs in their hands, and to give them the same chance at experiencing the amazing control that we each have in the direction of our health. He is currently touring with the latest book, Cellular Cleansing Made Easy: regenerate your health without giving up food, sex, or sanity.

In his mid-twenties, Scott spent three years hitch hiking around the world, including a year in Africa and four months sailing a 41 foot sloop off the coast of Madagascar. Scott paraglides, skis, and has been a scuba diver since 1980. He and his wife, Gael, live in Boulder, Colorado with an outside sauna, two cats and a dog. His next big acquisition will be a goat and a few chickens, to mess with the dog's mind.

Book Description
Cellular Cleansing has become a buzzword in our culture, and the reason is simple: there is no more powerful way to improve your health than through a nutritional cleansing program. Nothing comes close?not drugs, surgery, vitamin pills? to its potential for cellular repair.

Cellular cleansing is a method of using certain nutrition and lifestyle guidelines that have been found to be effective for flushing the body of built-up toxins. This is done through a twofold process. First, you intentionally minimize certain foods, habits, and influences for a designated period of time. Second, you intentionally bring in foods, habits and techniques that are well known to help cleanse, nourish and regenerate the body.

Why this book?

-- It's written in an easy, fun, funny and convincing style that makes you want to go out and experience the results yourself.

-- The cleansing program is easy and flexible. You are never hungry, and it fits into your lifestyle.

-- A new cleanse starts fresh each month, on the morning of the 1st, and then ends on the evening of the 28th, each and every month. Read the book: when you are ready, so is the next cleansing program.

-- You don't do the program alone. There are hundreds of others participating in the cleanse during the same month. Online support and the Cleansing Forum allow you to interact with cleansing participants during and after your cleanse.

With a history of medical problems from as long as I can remember, and with the use of medicine everyday of my life, I can honestly say that Scott's book and the process of the cellular cleanse changed my life. I love, love, love this book! I could not put it down! It is so inspirational. Why? One: Scott writes in such a way that makes it simple for any lay person to understand complex nutritional concepts. Two: his passion and caring came through in every line. I really felt like he was talking directly to me and that he cared about me. The style of writing is personable and caring. And Three: it is humorous and entertaining!
Well, he has me hooked. I am starting his next"NACHO" cleanse on the first of this next month.
Sincerely, Tonia

Practical information in an entertaining format, March 26, 2003

I loved this book! I have read a number of other books designed to provide a guideline for healthier diet, lifestyle, etc. I usually feel my eyes glaze over within a few pages as I struggle to understand the jargon or medical terms used. Not with this book! Written in layperson's terms with a liberal dose of humor, it is not only easy to read, but easy to follow. It is a book that I have referred to frequently and recommended to family and friends. The best thing about it? If you actually do the cleanse, it works! I look forward to more from Scott Ohlgren.

A Book For Everyone, December 29, 2002
Reviewer: Maxine C. LeClerc from Chico, CA USA
Scott Olgren has injected simplicity and common sense into doing a cleanse. I followed his guidelines for my personal cleanse and experienced a difference in my energy and quality of life. As a result, I have made some life-changing habits in my diet. I will do his program at each seasonal change. This book is my first recommendation to all of my colon hydrotherapy clients. Many have done Scott's cleanse and reported, over and over, that this was the first time they could complete a cleanse regime, not go hungry, and feel such a difference. The book's resource section and Scott's on-line chatroom enable us participants to get feed-back from each other for comparison and encouragement.

Former User of Spam and Velveeta Cheese

Scott Ohlgren is a 48-year old enthusiastic student, teacher, and beneficiary of the natural healing paradigm. Raised in the heart of Wisconsin ("The Dairy State"), where Spam and Velveeta cheese were considered part of the 4 Food Groups, his introduction to the diet-symptom, diet-health connection came just in time. At the age of 19, tired of acne, sinus problems and tetracycline, a friend shoved a book into his hands, saying, "Change your diet, and those symptoms will go away." Five weeks later, the symptoms were gone.

Scott was the keynote speaker at the 2003 annual meeting of the International Association of Colon Hydrotherapy (I-ACT), held in Snowbird, Utah.

Scott's mission is to create "the La Leche League of nutritional understanding". His passion, which is obvious in his videos and live events, is to have people prove to themselves--to have the physical experience--of this connection between their current symptoms and the food that they have been eating for decades. That the role of healer belongs not to those from hospitals or laboratories, but is actually as close to home as hand to mouth. To show that our job -- as parents, teachers, and leaders--is to return the responsibility for our health back to where it has always belonged.

He is currently touring with the latest book, Cellular Cleansing Made Easy: Learn to Regenerate Your Health Without Giving Up Food, Sex, or Sanity. For Fun
In his mid-twenties, shortly after reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, by Dr. Weston Price, Scott took off on a trip around the world that lasted just short of three years. From 1979–1982, he hitch hiked a few months through eastern Europe, a year through Africa, sailed for four months on a 41-foot sloop off the coast of Madagascar, and then six months living in Australia. He did a similar seven-month voyage again in 1996, this time with his wife, Gael, going back and visiting many of the friends he had made 17 years earlier.

Scott paraglides, skis, and has been a scuba diver since 1980. He and Gael live in Boulder, Colorado with cat Lila, Bo the dog, and an outside sauna and cold plunge. His next big acquisition will be a goat and a few chickens, to mess with the dog's mind.
