TRACI McKNIGHT
Movement has become my Prayer.
Movement has shown me God.
When I was ten years old, a woman told me she saw God in me when I danced. How profound for a soul searching kid to hear... She knew before I did that movement would become my most fluent language- the language by which I now communicate with myself and others, but also with God. She must have felt that I felt perfectly Present on that stage, before I knew there was a real difference between being Here or There... 14 years have passed. Movement has become my Meditation. Movement has become my Prayer. Movement has shown me God. Presence. Stillness. Peace. Movement has made me honor this gift of life more than the sunshine, more than the sea, more than a church or a book or a psalm ever has. I reflect on the experience of receiving her comment often, and feel I owe so much of my heart to her. I don't remember her name, or her hair color, or her voice. But I remember her words, so full of God themselves. Thank you.
