Last May my husband and I decided to try and have a baby so I stopped taking my birth control. I never started a period so I called my OBGYN maybe 3 months later and he prescribed me Provera. I took that and I had a period. A few days after my period stopped I started having horrible headaches that I just put with having too many hormones running through my body. I went on vacation and the headaches still never went away but then I just said "Oh its the sun" but then when I came home and the headaches stil continued everyday at the same time in the part of my head I knew something was wrong. I called my OBGYN and told him that I had not had another menstrual cycle since my last one and had been having headaches for three weeks straight. About a week after that the headaches just stopped and then 3 days later I developed blurred vision. I called my OBGYN again and he told me to call my eye doctor that the Provera should not have caused all of this. So I made and appt. and when I went to see him he said I have 4+ Papoladema swelling behind my eyes and that he believed I had Pseudotumor cerebri but that I needed to go to the ER to be sure. I went there scared to death thiking the worst. They did and MRI and Ct and I had no mass. They did and spinal tap on me and my level was 55 when a normal level should be 20. I was admitted to the hospital for the first time in my life with PTC. I was pumped with sterroids everyday a little less each day and given Topamax everyday aswell. I lost 10lbs which is what the doctior wants. HE said it happens to mostly overweight, childbearing age, women, with messed up menstrual cycles. Whcih is me! I have been taking Topamax and a sterroid everyday since August 20. I have to go to specialist in 2 weeks. I have not once had a headache since before the spinal tap and my vison is almost back to normal once in awhile it will be blurry mainly at night. Light sometimes throws me off. I get floaters sometimes but the difference from before is amazing. I want to have a baby so bad and I am not sure what is next for me because I know my health is important for me and when I have a baby. the doctor said that is the most important thing. I was wondering is anyone had any input about getting pregnant and having PTC? I hope my story can help someone recently diagnosed and maybe someone can help me. thanks Grace
