Prayer to the Blessed Sacrament by St. Alphonsus Liguori Blessed Sacrament Whole Collection of Prayers to Sacred Heart My Lord Jesus Christ, it is Thy great love for men that keeps Thee day and night in this Sacrament, full of pity and love, expecting, inviting, and welcoming all who visit Thee. I believe that Thou art really present in the Sacrament of the Altar. From the depth of my nothingness, I now speak to Thy most loving Heart with a three-fold intention: to thank Thee for the great gift of Thyself; to atone for all the insults which Thy enemies heap upon Thee in this Sacrament; and to adore Thee wherever Thy Eucharistic Presence is dishonored or forgotten.
My Jesus, I love Thee with my whole heart. I am very sorry for my ingratitude to Thy infinite goodness. I now resolve with the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again. And, sinful as I am, I consecrate to Thee my entire self, my whole will, my affections, my desires, and all that I have. From now on, do with me and mine as Thou pleasest. I ask for and desire only Thy love, final perseverance, and the grace always to do Thy holy will.
I intercede with Thee for the souls in purgatory, especially for those who were most devoted to the Blessed Sacrament, and to Thy most holy Mother. I recommend to Thee also, all poor sinners. And lastly, my dear Savior, I unite all my desires with the desires of Thy most loving Heart. Thus united, I present them to Thy Eternal Father, and beg Him in Thy Name and for love of Thee, to hear and answer them.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto Thine. Prayer to the Sacred Heart Heart of Jesus, all holy! Fountain of all blessings, I adore you, I love you, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and entirely obedient to your will.
Good Jesus, grant that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessings on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, inflame our hearts with love of you. Acts of Adoration and Reparation to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament Profoundly I adore Thee, my Jesus hid beneath the mystic emblems; I acknowledge Thee very God and very man. Accept this act of adoration, by which I fain would make Thee reparation O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.
(Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) Profoundly I adore Thee, my Jesus I acknowledge Thy presence in this most holy Sacrament. By this act of adoration, fain would I make amends for Thy people, so many of whom seem as though they know Thee not; but, while they see Thee go to the poor sick, to be their strength in the great journey to eternity, leave Thee unescorted and hardly give Thee one outward sign of homage. I offer Thee, in reparation for this coldness; Thine own most precious blood, which Thou didst shed from the wound in Thy right foot, and entering therein, in spirit, again I cry a thousand and thousand times:

I offer Thee in reparation for such great irreverence, Thine own most precious Blood, which Thou didst shed from the wound in Thy left hand, and entering therein, in spirit, I say at every moment:

(Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) Profoundly I adore Thee, my Jesus, true victim of atonement for our sins; and I offer this act of adoration in compensation for the sacrilegious outrages which Thou dost receive from so many of Thy ungrateful people, who dare to draw nigh to Thee and to receive Thee in communion, with mortal sin upon their souls. In reparation for these hateful sacrileges I offer Thee last drops of Thy most precious Blood, which Thou didst shed from the wound of Thy most sacred side; and entering therein, in spirit, I adore Thee, I bless Thee, I love Thee, and with all the holy souls who love Thee in the most holy Sacrament, I exclaim:
O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine.
(Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) O Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy, and in the name of all mankind, pledge our love and fidelity to Thee!
The more Thy mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!
The more impiety endeavors to extinguish our hopes of immortality, the more we shall trust in Thy Heart, sole hope of mankind!
The more hearts resist Thy Divine attractions, the more we shall love Thee, O infinitely amiable Heart of Jesus!
The more unbelief attacks Thy Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore It, O Divine Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall delight to observe them, O most holy Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Sacraments are despised and abandoned, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, O most liberal Heart of Jesus!
The more the imitation of Thy virtues is neglected and forgotten, the more we shall endeavor to practice them, O Heart, model of every virtue!
The more the devil labors to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed with desire to save them, O Heart of Jesus, zealous Lover of souls!
The more sin and impurity destroy the image of God in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, O Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Holy Church is despised, the more we shall endeavor to be her faithful children, O Sweet Heart of Jesus!
The more Thy Vicar on earth is persecuted, the more will we honor him as the infallible head of Thy Holy Church, show our fidelity and pray for him, O kingly Heart of Jesus!
O Sacred Heart, through Thy powerful grace, may we become Thy apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and by Thy crown in the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
Praise and adoration ever more be given to the most holy Sacrament! To Jesus Abandoned With Mary Immaculate, let us adore, thank, implore and console, the Most Beloved and Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many Tabernacles, without visitor or worshipper I offer Thee my poor heart. May its every throb be an act of love for Thee. Thou art always watching beneath the Sacramental Veils; in Thy Love Thou dost never sleep and Thou art never weary of Thy vigil for sinners. O lonely Jesus, may the flame of my heart burn and beam always in company with Thee.
O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine! O Divine Jesus O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many tabernacles, without visitor or worshiper, I offer Thee my poor, but loving heart. May its every beating be a prayer of love for Thee.
Thou art ever watching under the sacramental veils; in Thy love Thou never sleepest and art never weary of Thy vigil for sinners. O good Jesus, I love Thee; I am truly sorry for having offended Thee.
O lonely Jesus, may my heart be a lamp, the light of which shall burn and beam for Thee alone. Bless me, O Jesus, Come spiritually into my soul and fill my heart with love for Thee. When I draw my parting breath when my eyes shall close in death, then, sweet Jesus, be Thou near, Heart of Jesus, hear me. Watch, Sacramental Sentinel, watch for the weary world, for the erring soul, and for Thy poor lonely child. To the Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament O sweet Jesus, let me lay at Thy sacred feet my daily share of joys, struggles, and sorrows, my hopes and fears, and do Thou in the stillness of Thy sanctuary, tenderly gather them into Thy Sacred Heart. Solace my doubts, calm my fears, and grant that day by day I may become more united to Thee.
O Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, overflowing with gentleness, tenderness, and charity, I bury in the abyss of Thy Mercy all my iniquities and all my negligence. I offer Thee my labors and sufferings, my sorrows and my miseries; I recommend to Thee my life and my death. A Prayer in Time of Trouble O Sacred Heart of Jesus! make us remember, when the world is cold and dreary, and we know not where to turn for comfort, that there is always one spot bright and cheerful--the Sanctuary. When we are in desolation of spirit, when all who are dear to us have passed away, like summer flowers, and none are left to us and care for us, whisper to our troubled souls that there is one Friend who dies not, One Whose love never changes, the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Altar.
When sorrows thicken and crush us with their burden, when we look in vain for comfort, let Thy dear words come forth with full force from the Tabernacle: "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will refresh you."
Would that we could realize the pure happiness of possessing Thy sympathy. Would that we could feel--when we are crushed and humbled, when the hope we have lived for has withered, when sorrows and trials that we dare not reveal to any, make our souls sink well nigh unto death, when we look in vain for someone to understand us, one who will enter into out miseries, make us remember that there in One on the Altar who knows every fibre of our hearts, every sorrow, every pain special to our peculiar natures, and Who deeply sympathizes with us.
Compassionate Heart of Jesus! our hearts crave for sympathy, and to suffer seems nothing to the bitterness of suffering alone. Act of Confidence in the Sacred Heart of Jesus O most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Henceforth nothing will worry or disturb me. O Sacred Heart, sweet joy and blessed peace, true rest and secure refuge of my soul, increase my confidence and perfect my hope in Your power and kindness. Even if I am the least of Your children and the last of Your servants, still I shall be great and perfect in trusting that You are my eternal happiness and salvation. This confidence is the only recommendation I have to offer You now and always, especially at the hour of my death. Amen.
To the Sacred Heart of Jesus Divine Jesus, who has said, “Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you” behold me prostrate at Your feet. Animated with a lively faith and confidence in these promises, dictated by Your Sacred Heart and pronounced by Your adorable lips, I come to ask (here mention the request.)
From whom shall I ask, O sweet Jesus, if not from You whose Heart is an inexhaustible source of all graces and merits? Where shall I seek, if not in the Treasure which contains all the riches of Your clemency and bounty? Where shall I knock, if it not be at the door of your Sacred Heart, through which God Himself comes to us and through which we go to God? To You then, O Heart of Jesus, I have recourse. In You I find consolation when afflicted, protection when persecuted, strength when overwhelmed with trials, and light in doubt and darkness. I firmly believe You can bestow upon me the grace I implore, even though it should require a miracle. You have only to will it and my prayer is granted. I own I am most unworthy of Your favors, O Jesus, but this is not a reason for me to be discouraged. You are the God of mercies and You will not refuse a contrite and humble heart. Cast upon me a look of pity, I conjure [beseech] You, and Your compassionate Heart will find in my miseries and weakness a pressing motive for granting my petition.
But, O Sacred Heart, whatever may be Your decision with regard to my request, I will never cease to adore, love, praise, and serve You. Deign, my Jesus, to accept this, my act of perfect submission to the decrees of Your adorable Heart, which I sincerely desire may be fulfilled in and by me and all Your creatures forever and ever. Amen. A Prayer for Priests O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep Thy priests within the shelter of The Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Thy Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unworldly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Thy holy love surround them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and their everlasting crown hereafter. Amen. Prayer for Those in Agony O most merciful Jesus, lover of souls! I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thine own Blood the sinners of the world who are now in their agony and about to die this day. Amen.
Heart of Jesus, once in agony, pity the dying. Daily Prayer for the Dying O most merciful Jesus, Lover of souls, I pray Thee by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thy Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony, and are to die this day. Amen.
Agonizing Heart of Jesus, have mercy on the dying. The Blessing O my Jesus, Fountain of inexhaustible benediction, Thou who didst bless the Apostles before Thou didst ascend into Heaven bless me also and with Thy Presence sanctify me. The Last Word Jesus, my God, my King, now I must leave You, but I carry away with me the memory of Your wounded love. It will not be long until I come to visit You again. Till then I leave my poor heart before the Tabernacle. Let its every beat tell You that I love You, and that I am longing to be free to spend another hour with You. "Devotion to the Sacred Heart should bring us to a life of intimate union with Jesus who, we know, is truly present and living in the Eucharist. The two devotions — to the Sacred Heart and to the Eucharist—are closely connected. They call upon one another and, we may even say, they require one another. The Sacred Heart explains the mystery of the love of Jesus by which He becomes bread in order to nourish us with His substance, while in the Eucharist we have the real presence of this same Heart, living in our midst. It is wonderful to contemplate Jesus as the symbol of His infinite love, but it is even more wonderful to find Him always near us in the Sacrament of the altar. The Sacred Heart which we honor is not a dead person's heart which no longer palpitates, so that we have only the memory of him, but it is the Heart of a living Person, of One who lives eternally. He lives not only in heaven where His sacred humanity dwells in glory, but He lives also on earth wherever the Eucharist is reserved. In speaking of the Eucharist, Our Lord says to us, 'Behold, I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world' (Mt 28, 20). In Holy Communion, then, this Heart beats within us, it touches our heart; through the love of this Heart, we are fed with His Flesh and with His Blood, so that we may abide in Him and He in us."
