I'm a 34 year old female trying a cleanse for the first time....
My initial reason for doing this cleanse was allergies, which I have been suffering terribly from this season, and increasingly more as I get older. It feels like I've been sick for 3 solid months. So this is basically an experiment to see if I can rid myself of allergies without medicine.
While thinking about doing this fast I did lots of research and decided that the master cleanse was a good cleanse to try. I love the idea that my body will be rid of many impurities that have been harbored in various organs and that hopefully a lot of emotional scarring will be flushed down the toilet as well.
I think not eating will be sort of hard, although I wouldn't call myself a big eater. I eat pretty healthy, mostly organic, have one latte in the morning, and one glass of red wine most nights. I believe that tea will be the hardest thing for me to give up. White, green, oolong- how I will miss you! I know that I can drink peppermint, but I'm not sure how much yet. Peppermint is not REAL tea, anyway, but it will have to do. I actually look forward to seeing this through.
I'm only setting my sights on a 3 day cleanse for now. My kids are nearing their final 2 weeks of school, and there is a lot of stuff going on every day. Because I've never done a fast before, I'm interested to see how my body reacts to not eating. We live in the mountains and commute 45 minutes one way to school every day. It's a really hairy drive and I don't want to drive off of the mountain because of lack of concentration. With that said, as long as I have the energy to keep kicking it, I want to stay on the cleanse for ten days.
I took senna leaf tea last night and did the salt water flush an hour ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I thought it would be a desperate situation, but it turned out fine. I'm glad that I'm starting on a weekend so I can get a good feel for my new routine.
