I stumbled on the site by doing a google search for "Day 10 fasting" or vise versa. I found some interesting posts and thought I'd post my experience as well. Today is Day 15 for me. The most I've ever gone was about 6 days and I've made it a goal of mine to do at least 20 and possibly 30...so far so good.

I've been keeping a journal of my fast from Day one. It's not too long:

===================================================================================

Started my third fast of the year on Sunday, September 10, 2006

Weighin: 186lbs

Worked out yesterday! It was awesome. I worked shoulders, bi's, and lower back/abs. I worked out for about 1.5 hours.

Had several small BMs yesterday; not very well formed. Today I had a pretty good BM; well formed!

I felt really good yesterday. It really felt good to workout! I hadn't worked out for some time. Especially after my nap. I napped while the kids watched a movie. I think I napped from 2-4pm. Got to ride my bike in today!

Day 3: I got to bed pretty early last night. I think it was before 10:00am. I slept through most of the night. Yes, I had a great sleep. Very well rested when I woke up! Had a great ride home last night from work! Please, please let me make this a long one!!

I have yet to weigh myself. I certainly feel slimmer!

Day 4: Got to bed way late last night!! I'm sure I didn't fall asleep until well past 12:30. Up just before 6:00am. I was lying in bed for about 30 minutes before I got up with a a Dave Mathews song in my head. I made some coffee. Also made extra for a coffee enema. I was able to hold it in for only about 5 minutes or less, it seemed. It was a success however; a handful nuggets of stool came out. (I'll try and find a gentler way to describe that one.)

I got out of the house by 6:50am and proceeded to the gym. Wow! What an awesome workout! I worked lats, tris, abs, and lower back (all fours opposite leg/arm--hold position). I got to work by 9:00amish! Thank you god!

Drank 20 ounces of green juice. I'm sure I'll go through 64 ounces of green and fruit juice today! Anyhow...

Trying to remain strong and focused. Looking forward to my weighin tomorrow. I'm checking my weight every 5 days as oppposed to every other as I've done in the past. This is supposed to be my long fast of the year....right? right!!

Day 5: Yeah. My weigh in day. I was 180lbs. Yow baby! Actually, I was hoping to be lighter but I actually prepared myself for that weight. That's not bad; 6lbs in 5 days.

I had a great day today. Up @ 6:15am. I was in bed before 10:00pm, so I had a good nights rest. I certainly felt well rested today when I got out of bed.

I made my juice this morning. I picked up my fruits and veggies from Whole foods. I bought all organic. It was very spendy. Ouch. I wish we could afford to always purchase our food there.

I didn't have any coffee today. I guess I'm done for now. I don't think I'll be needing it again for a while. That was my goal. I'm super tired right now. If I had more juice prepared I would drink it, but I only have enough for tomorrow. 64 ounces. I need to start having more on hand. Maybe later I won't need as much but for now on these longer days, when I have the kids and practice, I need more energy! Going to bed...

Day 6: Up at 6:10am. In bed last night by 9:40ish. Ahh...yes another good nights sleep under my belt. I woke up quite a few times during the night and was pleasantly surprised when I looked at the time. I love waking up at night and knowing I've got so many more hours of rest ahead of me.

I've got to get our matress replaced. I'm not having an awesome nights sleep like my wife is...soon!

Had a another good workout in the gym this morning. I worked chest and abs. My abs were pretty tired from the previous workout, but I managed to do quite a few different excersises!

Day 9: Breaking new records and hiking in unchartered territory as of yesterday! I think the most I ever fasted was until day 7. (I ate on day 7) I feel really good "right now". That could change any minute, at least I've heard. I've been waiting for a healing crisis to hit me. One that says to me, "what are you doing? You better eat something!" I've been feeling really good lately. I know my weight has dropped below 180lbs. I'm looking forward to my weighin on Wednesday.

I went climbing yesterday. It was an awesome day! We were climbing studs! I excerted a bunch of energy yesterday climbing. I'm sure it's why I woke up this morning feeling a little tired. I totally wanted some coffee! I had a cup, but it made me feel a little woozy!

I need to get some good rest tonight! I've only had green juice today.

Day 10: Feeling pretty good. In bed by 10:50pm. I woke up at 4:45, should have gotten up, but didnt' get out of bed until 6:03am. Oh well. I made lots of juice!

I made my wife's coffee this morning and the aroma was pretty powerful to me. I totally backed off and didnt' make myself a cup. I made myself a cup of chai tea with honey. It was awesome! I love fasting!! Feel really really great!

I was telling Omi last night that I've been waiting for a healing crisis ot arrive. None yet however!

Weigh in: 177.5lbs

Day 11: Yeah, I'm pretty stoked with my weight. I'm so glad I decided to weighin every 5 days, becuase I know the scale might not have moved for a day or 2 and that would be disappointing. Wow, almost 10 pounds in 10 days. Very cool. I'm certainly feeling lighter and have good energy.

Yesterday was pretty tough. I had some loose stools and lots of gas later in the afternoon. I'm not sure if the gas is from the juice or what, but I feel like I was having a healing crisis for a while. I was thinking about eating quite a bit. I got to bed prettty early, just before 10pm. I had a really restful sleep. I got up at 5:45am. I felt like I could have stayed in bed for a while more, but once I got going, I was glad to be up.

Gave myself an enema. Got rid of some more stool. Yeah.

Made it to the gym this morning. Really glad I did that. My abs are getting stronger. I'm able to hold my sit up position for about 40+ seconds. I worked my shoulders and abs.

Thursday, September 21, 2006

Day 12: I was pretty tired last night; in bed at by 9:15pm, lights out at 9:45pm. Up at 5:45am. Got a good nights rest. It's amazing how well I sleep when I'm fasting and what a restful nights sleep I get!!

I did have a cup of joe this morning with my wife: hazelnut--yumm!! I did my low back excersices (all four stretch--hold for 20+ seconds) along with 3 sets of ball crunches (20-25 reps).

I felt like jumping on the scale because I looked and felt a pound or two lighter. Decided to wait until Day 15! OMG--day 15...........i can't believe it!! Yowza!! Just need to stay focused on my goal and accomplish it!!

1:11pm: Had my first sip of juice this 12:45pm. I was surprised that I didn't need any juice prior til then.

Friday, September 22, 2006

Day 13: I can't believe my energy level. My energy was pretty sustained all day yesterday. I'm still amazed. I had my last bit of juice just before 8:00pm. I could have fallen asleep @ 10pm, but I stayed up with Anita. ;-)

In bed @ 12:30is--up @ 5:35am. I had to be up early to make my juice. What a great juicer that new machine is. It is soo cool!!

I had a great workout this morning! Stair climber (at gym) for 20 minutes. Worked lats, bi's, abs (of course) and lower back! It's 10:35am and have not had any juice yet today!! Wow!! I know I'm gonna crash at some point.

My lower back was sore most of the day yesterday! I hope it was my body healing itself. So far no issues with my lower back today! Oh yeah. I had a huge piece of wax fall out of my ear last night! It was black and very gnarly looking! Cool!!

Weigh in: 172lbs

Day 15: That's pretty cool, I've lost 14 pounds to date!! I am pretty ecstatic about that number!! I still have a few more pounds to shed. Then it will be all about maintanence! Hopefully it won't be a big deal!

I got to surf yesterday! It was a low tide and not much wind! It was so epic! There were only 3 guys out at the 2nd peak and about 5 guys at the most at 1st peak! There were really big sets coming in! OMG, it was soooo great!! I'm so glad I went straight to the beach when I had the chance yesterday! I almost went shopping for new t-shirts, but saved it until I was done surfing!

I went to the gap and scored about 7 t-shirts (lots of colors) and a pair of jeans! My biggest dilema was if I should get the 32" or 33" waist jeans! I couldn't decide and thought I'd better wait until I'm done fasting and see where I'm at. (Funny)

I was pretty pooped when I finally got home at 8:45pm. I took a shower plopped myself on the couch and watched a National Geopraphic show on TV. Then I watched Emerril!! The show was on baking! Some day, I want to try each and every one of the recipes I watched him make: lemon bars, oatmeal cookies, blueberry and rasberry muffins, snicker doodles, and an awesome looking bundt cake!! Yumm!!

I will try and go sparingly on the juice today!
