300 pound lesbian
anti gay speak still alive on left and right
Date: 9/12/2006 6:19:49 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 2010 times It is coming to the end of the professional baseball season and much to my dismay
I heard too mnay anti gay, anti woman and other bigoted remarks come through my headset.
When confronting my boss about a colleague of mine describing a woman as a "300 pound lesbian". He said that no harm was done. He said "how else would you describe a 300 pound lesbian. The problem is that the story had nothing to do with her sexua| preferance but a generic issue that had nothing to do with sexuality.
I was also reminded time and time again never to put two men on "Kiss Cam" at the pro football or pro baseball games. I was told that "kiss cam" was meant for a man and a woman" not two gay people.
My boss told me that this was the orders handed down by the professional teams.
I have no idea if that is true or not. But, the stereotyping of men that are perceived to be gay is still rampant, as are the jokes and the discrimination.
The same type of stereotypical attitudes exist for the cheerleaders. Where in my headsets i heard comments about how that girl shakes it. Her second job mmust be at a topless joint.
I have brought these issues to the attention of the pro teams and I am sure the problem will continue and I will not be back next year. There seems to be a double standard in sports. The people in the industry do not seem to be held to the same standard of morality, drug use, sexua| abuse or it's bigoted comments.
That is too bad. The comments I heard this year are sickening and dispicable.
But as I was told "boys will be boys". The discrimiantion will continue and the media will protect its own.
