Rap this, heavy metal that...
Whatever happened to harmony?
Date: 8/24/2005 8:23:28 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 2840 times Me thinks the essence of music has fallen to the wayside. Pure harmony is a lost art. Now don't get me wrong - I enjoy all types of music - hard rock, metal, soul, old school funk, even the occasional country western tune. But the sounds of pure harmony are lost with the 45 rpm record. Case in point. I was listening to Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence" the other day. Pure heaven. Enjoy some of the early Beatles tunes. Bliss. The mixture of a two-part harmony coupled with an a slow ballad is reminiscent of good old days. Chad and Jeremy. The Association. The Byrds. Ask any kid today who those artists are and you'll probably hear "Is that some kinda virtual reality TV show?" What a pity. Blow off the dust on your old records. Turn off the TV. Spin a record and drive your kids crazy! Heck, maybe they'll even enjoy it after a while!
