When I was a kid, I loved to do arts and crafts. Developing chemical sensitivity in my 20's put an end to my painting for years. Recently, I started using children's non-toxic watercolor paint and have been doing very well with it, but I wanted to try a thicker paint for large paintings and perhaps a wall mural.
I'd heard about milk paint and that folks with MCS often tolerated it well. The paint is non-toxic and all-natural and comes in a variety of vibrant colors! Usually used for painting walls and furniture, I wanted to experiment and see if I could use it as an art paint. I purchased the primary colors from The Real Milk Paint Co: bright red, yellow ochre, blue, as well as white and black.
Milk paint needs a porous surface for good adhesion, and I pondered long and hard about what type of material I could paint it on that would work.
Well, to make a long story short, I made a visit down to San Diego to the Enchanted Garden, hosted by none other than Your Enchanted Gardener, Leslie Goldman himself (see his blog:

I was thrilled when he introduced me to Rhimax paper, a porous, organic, 100% recycled paper that is brownish in color and has a great texture!
The combination of milk paint on Rhimax paper has been wonderful! Now, I have my natural paints and am using it on eco-friendly paper to boot!
