Let's say that this is just for "variety".

Eveyrthing is supported by science, and not "recent traditions".
All scientific evidence (archeological, etc), points towards the fact that humans are highly carnivorous, and have evolved with the use of fire.
Think about it... no culture/civilization has ever been 100% raw, nor has evolved without the use of food preparation methods, like heating, sun drying, etc. Meats have always been part of their diets.
The incas, the mayans, aztecs... they all prepare food (modern descendants of these cultures still follow the same practices).
Some indigenous people in Mexico are VERY healthy and live very incredible LONG lifes, they prepare most of their food, like corn, plants, roots, etc. They also, of course, live a life free of toxic drugs, xenobiotics, etc.
Some people fear meat like the plague...
Why do humans developed a highly specialized enzyme like ELASTASE if they're supposed to be mostly or fully vegans? (Dr. Cordain)
We have carnivorous teeth.
I keep my diet 50% raw food (of the food that you can eat raw: fruits, egg yolks, oils, etc) and 50% cooked food (foods you shouln't eat raw, like grains, veggies... no matter what, they all contain toxins and even *enzymes* that make digestion difficult or next to impossible).

The problem is not being RAW... we should eat RAW food that was meant by nature to be eaten in that state (fruits, meat (can also be raw)). Cook potentially toxic food like plants, roots, veggies, grains... and reduce their intake. We should also NOT consume GE foods, or foods contaminated with pesticides... seems hard to achieve these days, with all that overpopulation and many economical interests in the "food" industry.
Eat the right proportions of each foods and stop the use of chemicals and other modern toxins.
