Here is a Blog I wrote about Hani:

Hani was born in Bethlehem. He speaks
better Hebrew than I do. Last year, during Ramadan,
I arrived at his store near supper time. He invited me
to eat with him and his son.

Had a really sweet time last night
at the El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe
event at the East County Performing Arts Center here in San Diego.
At the end, two of the star performers
came out front.
Yasmin is 21 and has been dancing with this troupe since the age of 5.
Sharaf, I missed asking his age, somewhere around the same as Yasmin.
Got his email though.
They both live in Ramallah, Palestine.
The two were the sweetest youth you would ever want to meet, both
very dear, and oh so talented; The whole Troupe was!
I felt like weeping. How much time and precious life
is being wasted created strife and human misery
when we are intended to be friends. What an illusion
we are living under. to create each other as adversaries.
and for what? What do you see in these eyes and hearts?
The Performance of the El-Fanoun Dance Troupe is
quite extraordinary, full of life, very juicy.
They next go to Chicago for a performance on November 19.
The MC last night acknowledged three people including
Janice Steinberg, who wrote a wonderful article in
the San Diego Union Tribute a few days before the performance.
Janice is a member of the San Diego Shir Hayam Jewish Renewal
Community. At times, she will read from the Torah, and lead
the prayer service. Her article, was deeply appreciated by the local
volunteer organizers.
