Sip of Beer

Stone Brewing Company, San Diego
makes a brew called Arrogant Bastard
Ale. I have in mind to suggest to
CEO Greg that they use Mugwort
rather than hops.

Just off the phone with
Chris Cochran, Marketing
director for The Stone Brewing Company.
Chris is sending me a couple of the
Arrogant Bastard Ale T-shirts.
I am going to present one to Jack Miller,
President of Pacific College.

Chris tells me,
he is quite familar with Mugwort
for brewing beer.

Brought to bottles of Arrogant Bastard
Ale last night from Whole Foods Market Hillcrest
to use in a Closing Ceremony for the Pacific
Symposium.

"Cheers!" as Chris says.

One long day down at
the Catamaran yesterday.

The day was over.

There was a lovely woman
belting out in the bar.

I went in.

Jeff, who was at the Reg area all day,
was having a beer. He was talking to one
of the PCOM grads.

I sat down between them on an empty chair.

Jeff reminds me of the Gargoyle that
Stone Brewing Company uses on their logo.

The bar man came up and asked if I wanted
something.

I can count the times I have ever been in a bar
on one hand, but I have had beer on my mind
the last few days because of a Seed Dream
to get The Stone Brewing Company using
Mugwort--called Moxa--as a hops substitute.

I found out from doing research that Mugwort--Moxa--
was used in the Middle Ages before Hops to brew beer.

I had been talking an hour before to Jack Miller, President of Pacific
College of Oriental Medicine, about my excitement
that three students and one supervisor--my friend Steve Levit--
were shared my excitement for growing their own Moxa
in our home Enchanted Garden.

Three of the students of PCOM jumped on my Seed Dream
that we should start a Student Coop that would grow
our own Moxa, one of the most popular of TCM herbs.

We even lined up a few buyers from the other
students and acupuncturists. Moxa is something
may use daily. Most of it comes from overseas.

I have a project to ground TCM in American Soil,
and I am focused on just three main herbs to grow
this at this year's Pacific Symposium.

Here is one reasons why I am doing this:

I am setting things in motion now to deeper and enliven
the EGIC (Enchanted Garden Intentional Community) Foundation.
I want this home to be a non-profit Center
so I can draw in Silent Partners who want to help
buy out the other Co-owners.

I am starting to build up the energy here.

I invited the students of PCOM to come over here
and plant Moxa.

I want to build the energy of Specific things we do here
that are Service related, and Mission related.

Non-profits need to do that.
I have long time wanted a TMC garden here, and growing
Moxa is a natural. I can see students from the college
gardening here on a regular basis. I can even imagine
Pacific College, or some of the TMC Companies, supporting
this community as a gardening and education center.

So here I am at the bar with Jeff.

The bartender comes over.

I say, "I don't really drink, but I would like
some Brew from The Stone Brewing Company.

I was particularly looking for Arrogant Bastard Ale!"
I said.

So what are the chances that they would have that??????

The bartender tells me that they serve
brew from The Stone Brewing Company
as one of their main drafts!!!!
What????

There are about a million beer companies...
and right here is a brew from the company
I want to use for my moxa????????

I'll drink to that, I may have said.
The bartender gave me a quarter glass free in a glass.
The three of us had a toast--me, the grad,
and Jeff, who looks like the Stone Brewing gargoyle.
