Beginning of the Third Day
of the Ten Days of Awe
The Rosh Hashanah,
known as the Birthday of the Universe,
began last Friday at Sunset.
When I am with the B'nai Horin
Jewish Renewal Community in L.A.,
my normal home for the Jewish High Holidays
for more than 12 years, I will write and read
various poetic offerings.
Some of these are from many books I have written.
Other pieces have been inspired by Stan Levy,
the Rabbi of B'nai Horin.
Stan began B'nai Horin more than 30 years ago
to fulfill his own spiritual need. He has drawn
a very loyal nucleus of support around him.
The community gathers throughout the year in
mainly at the home of own of the members,
or at times in his own back yard home on special
occasions--notably, for the Harvest Festival
called Succot. Succot is part of the Cycle of High Holidays.
It comes generally the weekend follow the Yom Kippur.
Yom Yippur is called the Day of Atonement.
IT is a day with millions of people in this Tradition
Fast for 24 hours.
The ranks of B'nai Horin swells for the High Holiday
Services.
For most of the years I have been with the community,
we would celebrate at the Temple of the Book
atop an incredible mountain top on the land of
the Brandeis Barden Retreat Center in Simi Valley.
This is the largest holding of land in Jewish Hands
outside of Israel, or so I heard. It is a wonderful
place for people who love to hike, and go out of the city
for the High Holidays. There are simple cottages,
mainly Chemical Free, and places to camp in a tent
if you would like.
I generally stay in the EG Mobile, or in a room
in the First Aid Center.
This year, the Rosh Hashanah came on the same
weekend as the Whole Being Weekend.
Both of these events are part of my personal Fall
Renewal each year.
I, like many, are coming out of a Summer from Hell.
Of course, for some there have been high points
and travels, but across the board, for many Souls
on the Lightworker Path, this has been a summer of
things close to us dying.
This includes old habits and ways of thinking.
For my own experience, I felt extremely drained
by summer's end. I felt disconnected from
my own capacity to generate juice. My Voltage
Regulator (is that an Organ inside the body?)
was definitely out of sync, and my wiring was
in need of twiking.
This was the summer when Asgede,
my car mechanic, changed the Van generator
three times and I the votlage regulator twice.
For the Life of him, he could not figure out
was was wrong. He, and others, began to murmur,
the perhaps the Vehicle I drive--a Classic
68 VW Van from the Love Era-- was in need
of Reincarnation.
I could not seem to get away fom a Red Blinking
light on the dashboard.
The summer culminated with two massive
astronomical and astrological events.
These were the Lunar eclipse of September 7
and the Solar Eclipse of September 22.
The first Eclipse signaled a time of No Return,
the end of Friendships and Relating that may not
have served us. It was a time to watch our dreams
and at times feel as if were were sleepwalking.
Gratefully, The Red Blinking Lights are now a thing
of the past.
I have much to tell as well about the Whole Being
Weekend.
Faced with the choice of being with B'nai Horin
or the Whole Being Weekend--
I opted to go up to the Mountains to gather
with around 300 for this very sweet
Equinox Gathering of the Tribes.
Let me end this Blog by saying--
The Whole Being Weekend--an event
that has been going on for 36 years in
San Diego and now Riverside County--
is Bootcamp for Peacemakers.
If you have a penny jar where you put away
nickles, by all means, start saving up
for next year's Whole Being Weekend.
This is a NOT to be Missed
once in a LIfetime Event--
that happens once a year.
It is an experience for me of Radical Soul Tuneup
and for many others--this year about 300--
by Sunday Afternoon--by the time the Closing
Ceremony has ended--you will find yourself
Glowing with Love.
How many places can you go and for less
than $130.00 (Plus Travel)
experience Heaven on Earth?
The Whole Being Weekend--is a formula
event--
It started on Friday afternoon with a
lady in shorts--who normally coaches
executives--directing cars. She was one of
many volunteers who was doing service.
Friday night--is kinda like Foreplay--
Peggy Sue, my sweet friend since the late
70's, leads the group in various warm up
movement.
The evening is about Shedding ourselves
of the City and finding comfort by around 9--
to ask our Family groups of five or so,
for three of four minutes of exactly how we want.
This can be a group massage, being lifted
high, or whatever...it is all very appropriate
and safe.
Generally, most years, I do a poem on Friday
night--to set a tone that we are no longer in
Kansas anymore.
Whole Being Time is Truly Whole Being Time.
