I was feeling discouraged yesterday.
Went into Whole Foods after a doctor
visit. See I need to be in touch with the store
Team Leader in the A.M. to coordinate
Sunday Test Marketing. Realize this
is taking a lot more time to make a success
of this than I imagined. Got some
positive feedback from the workers
at Whole Foods. That helped.
MATH QUESTION:
Whole Foods is currently paying $16.00
for 12 pints per box. Ten boxes last week.
Joe would like $25.00 per box wholesale
to Whole Foods.
The retail price in the store last week was $2.99.
So if the store charges $3.99, this would leave
$1.00 more between $2.99
and $3.99 for Farmer Joe.
So if, Whole Foods would retail at $3.99,
how much more could they pay wholesale to Joe
per box?
There are 12 pints per box....
restated:
If Whole Foods charges $1.00 more retail,
how much more could they pay wholesale to Joe
for each box????

Whole Foods Market:
Box of 12 pints at $16.00
is $1.34 each cost to Whole Foods.
They sell them for $2.99.
Profit is...$1.65
Joe's cost to grow a box is around $11.00.
This means his cost per pint is about .92 cents.
If Joe sells at the Farmers' Market
he get's $3.00 a pint.
or earns $2.03 per pint and $24.36 a box.
Then box would earn him $243.60.
He earns $5. a box selling it wholesale
at $16.00 to Whole Foods.
For ten boxes that is $5 x 10 boxes =$50.00
He would like to sell it for $25.00 to Whole Foods.
If he sold it for $25.00 he would make $2.08 per pint
rather than $1.34 per pint.
How much would Whole Foods have to sell
it for to pay Joe $25.00 per box?
what would the Retail be?

$2.08 cost to Whole Foods--
$1.65 profit= $3.73
$3.99 would do it quite well!
If Joe gets his price from Whole Foods...
$25.00 a box, he would earn...?
Current cost per pint to Joe is about .92 cents
$1.34 profit for each pint sold at $16.00 per box.
Joe earns .42 per pint...at $16.00 per box.
at $25.00 per box, he would earn
$2.08 minus .92=$1.16 per pint.

So How much is the cost to the Commercial organics
whose strawberries are picked four days before being
on the shelf?
Retail is $2.99.
Whole Foods knows the cost.
Ask...
The Commercial growers make their profit
in Volume. They can sell or less because they grow more.
They grow more because they have larger farms
and they will transport farther.
One out of three trucks is delivering food someplace
according to one man I heard at the Natural Product
Expo West.
Local growers pay more for costs to land, etc.
but transport less. Their volume is less.
Their expenses if they are local in San Diego
are greater than those bringing food in from a distance.
Which food is better for the Shopper?
The locally grown are fresh picked.
A lettuce for example grown by Joe
will be picked that day or the day before.
The ones composted, that do not sell,
are fresher than the lettuce that is shipped in.
Fresh contains the vitamins, minerals, and the
Vital Force. When the old Elders of Health were
talking about the Therapeutic value of whole foods
they were speaking about Fresh foods. This is the food
that has ultimate potential to shift the energy of the body
and connect the Soul to the Body.
Commercially grown food, even organic food,
that is shipped from a distance, has less chance to
be fresh picked.
I can imagine creating a bottle that says:
Strawberry Vitamins. This could have a price of $8.00
on it. Would you pay $8.00 for the Strawberry Vitamins
to replace what is now missing in the Commercial organic
strawberry?
i.e, $2.99 a pint of berries + $8.00 for the missing vitamins?
or would you prefer fresh picked organic with the vitamins
in tact...$3.99?
Some people complain that organic is too expensive.
I say, it has the doctor bill included.
Have you ever had to pay for the results of eating depleted
food, let alone, food that appears like food, but raped--
picked before its natural time, or ripe?
Food, picked too soon, is not ready to be eaten.
Plus it has additives to beat the natural system.
To properly prepare an organic peace of ground
so it can resist the buglife takes about eight years
according to Joe Jr.
The commercial non-organic growers attempt to
beat the system.
Strawberries are one of the most pesticide rich crops
they grow.

education and promotion--
to help the shoppers and the store
get the added Value--
Then on Mother's Day--give Joe the price
he is asking--$25.00.
