Better Living Thru Chem 101
In Dr. Jensen's Day,
preservation gave foods
an Eternal Shelf Life so they
would not spoll and bugs
would not eat them.
GMO'shave advanced the cause
of helping our Profit Motivated
make an extra dime here and there.
Spoliage is no longer
a problem at Vons, not for
cookies, and not for what
we use to imagine were strawberries....

I always enjoy the inspiration going
in there. I catch the headlines,
get to test my ability to avoid
non-foods.
I had no idea the Michael Jackson got off,
did you?
I am going to see the film
"The Future of Food" tomorrow night
created by Jerry Garcia's wife
with her inheritance from the rockstar
was now lives in the Eternal Hereafter.
Speaking of Eternal Hereafter,
I was thinking about Dr. Jensen
and how he would say that all the preservatives
solved the problem of foods doing what
God meant them to:
Rot, spoil, and ferment so they can go back to the soil.
Through Better Living Through Chemistry
in his day, you could keep a cracker fresh
on the shelf for years.
This was a great aid to the Entrepeneurs
who wanted to make sure they did not lose
any $$$ from spoilage. No nevermind
about the folks who ate that food, after all
what is a little Preservative going to hurt????
Dr. Jensen would turn over in his grave
(...if he believed in death...that is...)
to hear that near 70% of all Von's Super Duper
foods now have the GMO unlabeled seal of Approval.
It is so great ! Better Living through Chemistry
keeps advancing.
It is making the lines clear between the US and THEM
of Food.
OF course Organic and GMO can hardly live together.
Their dust blows on our fields.
There are advantages to GMO's of course.
In Jensen's day, eat enough Preservatives
and you didn't need embalmer's fluid when you passed on.
We were as preserved as the foods.
Now a days, I saw in my mind's eye this Photoshop
creation of Mr. Bush with three ears or a nose on his face
turned upside down from the lastest positive benefits of
GMO's. Maybe he and others will be able to hear better
when they start sprouting extra ears.
And then, GMO's can make sex change operations obsolete.
We could develop bodies with both kinds of organs.
That certainly might add to the pleasures of life
I would imagine.
Oh well, tomorrow is shopping day at the Farmers' Market,
and it will be great to see a few ugly oranges
that are so very beautiful on the inside.
Doesn't matter to me, if a bug here and there
had a bite.
PS Have you seen the Hilarious
four minute internet video called
"Store Wars" sponsored by the Organic Trade Association.
IT is all about the Dark side of the Farm.
Here is a brief synosis that was sent to me
just now about this hilarious internet video.
"A long time ago, in a supermarket far, far away....
If this isn't the coolest thing I've seen in a long, long time I don't know what is. Store Wars: The Organic Rebellion is a five-minute Internet movie that'll have you laughing the whole way through while learning how our supermarkets have been seduced by the "Dark side of the Farm". It's just freaking hilarious, with a cast that includes Cuke Skywalker, Darth Tater (he's more chemical now, than vegetable), Princess Lettuce, Chewbroccoli, and of course Obi-Wan Cannoli. Watch this and then forward it to your friends, they'll thank you for it. "
