There are several different companies who make these machines and with each company, there are different options that are available. Some options include: different size motors, circular interpolation, helical interpolation, automatic cycle, line-by-line cycle, liner interpolation, and much more.
Servo motors are usually 2.5 horsepower. These motors still offer large rpm speeds and precision that CNC machines are known for. These desktop CNC router machines come with computer software that is designed to work with the machine.
If you already know CNC technology, computers, and graphics, then operating this machine to its designed capabilities will be no problem. You may even be able to push the machine past its intended capabilities and become even more creative. If you do not already have experience in these areas, do not worry. The interface that is used is easy for learning and for operation. You may not be able to take advantage of the machine's capabilities fully; however, that will all come with time. The more you use it, the more you will learn and in the end you will know your machine inside and out. Then, you will be able to basically create anything that you want.
Just like with the larger CNC machines, these machines still operate on several different axes. There are usually the basic 3 axes that are used: the X, Y and Z axis. These machines are designed for smaller projects and short run times. Do not expect to turn out large production lines of products; That is just not within the machine's capabilities. Small, short projects are more like it.
To find the machine that it is right for you, you will want to shop around. There are different sizes and different options available. You must have in mind what you intend to use the machine for and then you have to make sure that the motor, rpm speed, and so on will allow you to perform your job accurately. These machines are affordable, but you don't want to waste your money purchasing the wrong machine.
