Dentist need more training
Date: 1/10/2018 1:15:24 PM ( 6 y ) ... viewed 119 times I have been to 4 dentist in 3 months. I have a front tooth that was root canaled 35 years ago. It was OK, but has occasional inflammation, but not hurting. Wanted to change my crowns in front. I read about toxic teeth and to maybe get them pulled and get a bridge. 3 dentist said the root canal tooth looks great on x rays..hum..1 dentist decided to do a deeper x ray and said there was some infection at the root tip. She asked her asst for some gutta percha.Upon her continuing to exam my tooth I told her it felt flatter but fuller all of a sudden for some reason. She said "yes, I just drained it"..Then she said "well the nerve is dead anyway". What! You can't just do that. The next day I started getting tingles in my neck. My eye above the tooth has been acting up and my vision is off, and that "full" feeling that I got never left. I went back to see the more advanced dentist the following week. He said "it's probably your gingivitis (never was told I had it) in that tooth and is more sore than we know". The thing is that she took a piece of gutta percha, stuck it in my gum, which I have a small hole there now, to what I was told she was measuring my pocket with it. Because of this I have this whole new problem. I can feel the back of my head with a freezing feeling now. Never had this before. Im not sure at this point what to do. She is young and is a hired dentist there. I also am getting brain fog. I am so upset that she did this and did not tell me. Has anyone ever heard of draining a tooth with this from the side of your gum pocket? Its been 2 weeks now and symptoms are not going away. These dentist have to be trained better than this. You can't just do what YOU want to a patient's mouth..many things to consider. When they push things up in your gums it goes into your blood stream and wreaks havoc on your system. They need to a add a holistic and more biological approach to patients. They can cause more damage and pain from a simple exam like me rather than looking at the gums, tissue, and being careful not to force objects into a tooth, etc. What is it going to take to get dentistry up to speed? A major lawsuit? More deaths? They need more knowledge and skills. If I knew what she was going to do with that gutta percha I would never have let her do that. She was only taking a closer xray, so she said.
