Garnering many high-profile customers, Murad’s pieces have been worn on the red carpet by the likes of Marion Cotillard, Taylor Swift, Beyonce Knowles and Katy Perry.

And the 45-year-old puts his continued success down to his established long-running relationships with celebrities and his desire not to hold back on the glamour facto.

“My prom dresses liverpool are like good-luck charms,” he told WWD. “That’s why they keep coming back.”

Murad admits that celebrities are the key driver of sales within his business, as he notices an immediate increase in requests for a specific style once it has been worn by a Hollywood star.

For instance, when Jennifer Lopez wore a body-conscious Murad nude and white lace dress to the 2013 Golden Globes, it sparked a trend for "naked" dresses.

"I like everything that is very close to the skin, like a tattoo, because if you put a lining, you lose all that handwork - it’s a shame. With the transparency, you can see the detail better,” he explained. “You can’t put a very modest woman in a dress like that. You need a real attitude, a woman with a certain kind of personality.”

But Murad admits that not everything goes to plan on the red carpet. At the Emmys in 2012, Sofia Vergara experienced a wardrobe malfunction when the zipper broke on her beaded teal Murad gown, exposing her bottom. She managed to get the dress repaired just in time for her show Modern Family to be named Outstanding Comedy Series.

“After that, I was among the top 10 most Googled fashion designers,” Murad laughed, adding that he continues to work with Vergara, even making her gown for her wedding to Joe Manganiello.

The designer is now focused on growing his retail business and is hoping to launch stand-alone boutiques in New York and Los Angeles soon.
