So, i found it hard to figure out the doses, along with lots of other people, in search of a quick reference i couldn't find one, so i have created my own. This led me to many problems, different companies seem to read the '10% iodide and 5% iodine' in very different ways, Does 10% + 5% make it 15%? or is that still 5%? (just counting pure iodine). I think the best I can do is give you general guide lines on the most common, and most reputable variations and recommend you look for a product that gives you exact milligrams of potassium iodide and iodine per milliliter or per drop. With that information the math is easy its 'Potassium iodide x 0.75 then add Iodine' then to change it from ml to drops you take the answer and multiply by 0.05.

adult recomended daily allowance of Iodine is 150 mcg, 150 mcg = 0.150 mg so one drop of 5% lugols contains 40 times the RDA recommended dosage or...

Now for those of us who think the RDA is waaay too low.

Here is the deal with lugols. the way it is reckoned is by the total iodine only content. so in 100ml of Lugols 5% with 10grams of ki and 5 grams of i2 in it, this is not 15 grams of iodine. 1/4 of the ki molecule is potassium. so its 7.5 grams of iodine from Iodide and 5 grams of elemental for a total of 12.5 grams of total iodine.

Health Leads makes Lugol's solution according to the Dr Hulda Clark recipe. Lugol's contains iodine (I2) and potassium iodide (KI). For a 1000ml amount: 44g of iodine, 88g of potassium iodide and approx. 868ml of distilled water.
