The National Heirloom Expo Displays Squash Genetic Diversity
The National Heirloom Expo displays one of the the largest display of squash genetic Diversity in the world. Our genetic diversity is lost when we apply GMO biotechnology to the farm bed, In this interview by Leslie Goldman Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Founder, Jere Gettle expresses his passion for the genetic Biodiversity in the many varieties of squashes. When I witnessed this display of squashes that perhaps had never been in a hall together, representing so many cultures and their unique cultural heritage, I felt profoundly touched. The National Heirloom Expo September 8,9,10, 2015, the World's Fair of Pure Food, held annually at the Sonoma Fairgrounds in Northern California, features one of the largest displays of Genetic Squash Diversity every assembled. This is a not-to-be-missed exhibit that takes months to literally grow, involving numbers of local Northern California farmers and growers. Don't miss the special exhibit in 2015.
