SDSU Women's Volleyball BEATS League Leading Colorado State!
Aztec Volleyball Upsets No. 9 Colorado State
After dropping the first two sets, San Diego State stormed back to win the next three as it upset previously undefeated and ninth-ranked Colorado State, 3-2 (15-25, 18-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-13) Wednesday night at Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

I saw a triumph in spirit in the victory of the San Diego State Aztec Women's Volleyball team. Down by two sets, the team beat undefeated Colorado State University in five sets at Moby Arena in Ft Collins. The photos were taken November 23 2013 at Senior Appreciation Day. Celebrating the Aztec Women Volleyball Team Seniors, November 23, 2013

I had a dream when i saw the spirit of the SDSU Aztec Women's volleyball team celebrate their seniors November 23 that they would go into Ft Collins, the Home of the undefeated Colorado State Rams and beat them when they played Nov 27, the eve before Thanksgiving day.
No one said "beat" CSU that afternoon when they took three sets from Utah State. The post game festivity honored the seven seniors who all received gifts of flowers and portraits of themselves, but "Beat CSU" was on my mind when I had words with their head coach.
It was also on my mind when i had a few moments with our former housemate Summer Nash who didn't seem absolutely sure that the seemingly superhuman feat--"Beat CSU" was possible when we chatted.
The team would have to live up to their preseason potential if they were to do that--they were touted to win their Mountain West Conference
The actual victory, beating Colorado State seemed like a miracle. It was a story of overcoming that i will not soon forget.
The Lady Aztecs were down two sets and into the third when their spirit came into them. After the third set, the announcers were in shock. The Aztecs did a 13-1 run, and they said that this was more than they had seen for their team this season. By the fourth set the Aztecs were playing as if they knew the unbeaten Lady Rams had met their match.
The fifth set was a battle of wills point for point. The CSU game broadcasters from the Colorado State University radio station who were telling the story from the Fort Collins gym were in shock before their team lost the final battle. The way the match began, SDSU down two sets, it looked like this was going to be a fast victory. By the end of the third set, won by the Aztecs, they saying they were in shock. By the fourth set, they were saying the game was unbelievable. One broadcaster said he was speechless.

I personally believed in Summer Nash and her team could do this.
Victory in sports us always sweeter than defeat. The thrilling come from behind footage of the 2013 team playing in the mountains of Colorado is a testament to the human spirit and profound team play of Aztec SDSU sports history. I will look forward to seeing and hearing it again.

I am watching SDSU Woman's Volleyball.
Summer Nash was a former housemate here at the Enchanted Garden.
I like to follow her.
