THE TIDE CONTINUES
There is no question that Monsanto and the Biotech industry has a foothold on the minds of Congress. We may very well have a Rider to the "Fiscal Cliff" Bill that further protects Monsanto and its "Moneybags" as Alfred McCann Called the special interests 100 years ago.
I do want to see an Honest Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food. I agree that there when we are yelling at each other, even at Monsanto, no one really hears, and yet if we are to build the kind of coalition that succeeds, the work that iis needed is in our own backyards and local communities.
We need to be talking to each other. This is scary, but look at the results when we are hiding out from each other.
I trace the current violent epidemic to this. I trade the cause to food and our food emergency as a major factor.
MEGAN WESTGATES PLEA FOR UNITY
Megan Westgates Plea for Unity, expressed in this article, needs to be repeated if we are to create the kind of Grassroots movement that stems the tide of GMO proliferation.
The place to attack is not our own organic campanies.
I agree that scale and how we grow needs to be looked at.
We may need to sponsor scaling down--and going extremely local--rather than scaling up that leads to a loss of species and a lessening of biodiversity.
RELATED FROM MEGAN WESTGATE
My action, when the USDA deregulated alfalfa and said it was o.k. to grow it GE, GMO, was to start growing organic alfalfa.
I have been saddened as well by the the shooting ourselves in the foot time and time again by attacking Organic Companies. I support the Non GMO Project, and see the continuing march toward GMO deregulation as the inability to create the Grassroots educated populace that seeds and sees regaining our beat with nature.
This look into the distracting we have caused ourselves was written Feb 11, 2012. Since, many of us worked together on Prop 37, but still we are not on the same page.
