Idaho Supports the California “Right to Know” and Prop 37
GMO Free Idaho October 25, 2012 In Call to Action, GMO Labeling Laws No Comments CA Right to Know, gmo free idaho, Monsanto, non-GMO, Prop 37
GMO Free Idaho is pleased to announce that because of local business and consumer support we were able to send a $400 donation to the YES on Prop 37 campaign!
On Tuesday, October 23rd, we screened the documentary “Genetic Roulette” at Northern Lights Cinema and Grill in Nampa, ID. We sold 57 tickets and received additional donations for the 11 prizes, given to us by local businesses, that we raffled off.
We are happy to be able to contribute to California’s “Right to Know” and the proposition that would label GM foods in the state of CA.

Warms my heart to read this. I have been working near ten months on Prop 37. It has been discouraging in the last ten weeks to run across allies who are voting no based on deceptive information. I am writing a new petition to address a need to investigate this, and bottom-line Grow A Healthier Pizza…that means grow some of our own food.
The words to my new petition are here

I would be honored to have you sign the original petition to in support of us getting 7.5 Million + 2, a projected simple majority needed to win this.

I meant last ten days…some farmers and health professionals I admire are voting no. They are being swayed by the false advertising ideas.

This initiative is important to consumers across the nation. 50 countries around the world have either labeled GM ingredients or have banned the growth of GM crops altogether. If Prop 37 passes, California will lead the way in giving every U.S. consumer the right to know if we are eating GMO.
GMO Free Idaho has joined a coalition with 23 other states and we all plan to roll out our own initiatives and legislation within the next two years. If Prop 37 passes though, this is a measure we might not have to taken, as food companies will more then likely label products across the nation. Non-the-less, this food movement is growing and cannot be stopped! The sole reason we are gaining momentum is because of local businesses and consumers who continue to spread awareness and support our causes.
We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the following individuals and businesses who helped us make our screening a success.
Homestead Natural Foods
Morning Owl Farm
Cliff Metcalf and Cliff’s Country Market
Tracy Volpi and Simple Sushi
Alma Hasse and Horizon Carpet Care and Restoration
Juliana Benner and High Stream Healing
Vogel Farms
Raine Saunders and Agriculture Society
New Leaf Healing Arts
Dr. Peter Cohen
Mark Tally
Eric Brandt
Raw Cuisine Delights
Northern Light Cinema
And of course, big thanks to everyone who came out and bought tickets! We hope the screening was a fun and educational experience for you all!
There is still plenty of work to be done in California before the vote and I urge you all to take further action. If you did not attend the screening and would like to make a donation, CA is trying to raise a quick 2 million before the vote. You can donate here right from the CA Right to Know website.
I urge you all to sign up for phone banking as well. It’s really simple! Click here and choose a date and time, you will then get an email with instructions. You can call registered CA voters right from the comfort of your home! I phone banked yesterday and actually had a great time and the system they have is so simple to use. Even if you only make a few phone calls it will make a huge difference!!
Right now the opposition is spending a million dollars a day to defeat this initiative. They are rolling out ads and blasting the airwaves with misinformation, okay, blatant lies. It’s important to know and understand this initiative if you plan to support it. And if you’re phone banking you will need to clarify this information for CA voters who might be confused about this prop.
You can read more about the talking points of the opposition and about what Prop 37 really intels at the CA “Right to Know” website and at Agriculture Society.
Again, THANK YOU ALL and here’s to being GMO FREE!
