CA State Senator John Vasconcellos Endorses Yes on Prop 37

California State Senator John Vasconcellos, one of the most powerful voices in California government during his years in the State Senate and Assembly, has endorsed the CA Right to Know Label Genetically Engineered Food Act, Prop 37.
John, a personal friend for more than 25 years, is passionate about his current project the Politics of Trust.
A simple majority of 7.5 Million + 2 is needed to win Prop 37 in my estimation, one half of all those who registered in 2012. John signed the 7.5 Million + 2 Petition October 16, 2012 visiting San Diego to teach and be part of the Virginia Satir yearly gathering held at the Dana Point Inn,
Signing the petition is a commitment that you endorse Prop 37, and goes one step farther asking your support to be one of 7.5 Million + 2 Campaign that aims to inspire that many people to Grow A Healthier Pizza. The 7.5 Million + 2 Campaign began as a result of Prop 37. It will go on beyond Prop 37.
My understanding is that our current state of GMO proliferation goes back to giving up our American Birthright to Know How to Grow some of our Own Food. When we do this, we get our beat back with nature. We have been on a slippery slope toward GMO Technology. Although Prop 37 aims toward a simple Right to Know if the Foods we eat are Genetically Modified, I am in the camp that believes GMO's are dangerous to human Health and that GMO Technology applied to Agriculture is an assault on human evolution.
I will express my point of view in my forthcoming book called, "Grow A Healthier Pizza." The book was inspired by the the Movement of Pure Food Reform in America. One of my heroes was Dr. Harvey W. Wiley M.D. whose vision originally inspired the idea that became the FDA.
Grow A Healthier Pizza was also instigated by the Vote Yes on 37 Campaign in California and the national Label it Movement. Both this movements simple asked for the Right to Know our Food Ingredients.
At this time, I believe we need an Honest Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food that all all points of view to truly be heard.
I want to separate my personal position from my willingness to listen to other points of view.
Dr. Wiley helped pass the Pure Food and Drug Law through Congress in 1906, but Special Interests, the same that are saying that people do not need a Right to know their food ingredients today, blocked that measure more than 100 years ago. Dr. Wiley's Law outlawed Junk Food and would have prevented misbranded and adulterated food.
I do not believe that we have any idea today what Food Safety really is.

John's Talk October 16 was inspiring
John spoke before the group Monday October 16. I recorded much of his inspiring message. One question I asked was about the history of how he helped bring the word "Self Esteem" into the Political Arena in the 80's. That was truly a historic moment.
I had a chance to reflect on the present historic moment, when California, his home state, has within its reach to Pass the People's Initiative Prop 37, that was signed by near 1 million to place it on the California Ballot.
Vasconcellos reflected on the enormous coffers that have assembled to keep people from having the right to Know.

John was in town for the 42nd International Human Learning Resources Network (IHLRN 42nd Annual Gathering, a gathering founded by Virginia Satir, one of the most influential Voices in Humanistic Psychology. Satir is one the one to use the term "Family Therapist," one of the attendees told me.
