Prayer for Monsanto
Spirit told me to "Pray for Monsanto". Inspired by a traditional healer to pray for my "enemies", and after some reluctance, I did.

Part of the walk path runs along the San Gabriel “River”. I put river in quotation marks because what was once a natural river now runs through a concrete channel for flood control purposes; at least it still runs to the ocean. It is also a haven for all kinds of waterfowl, and many a time I’ve walked past tall, elegant Blue Heron and seen pelicans, once almost extinct because of DDT poisoning, gliding gracefully over the water. The city took great pains to plant a ¼ mile stretch with only native California plants and grasses, including sage brush. I love the smell and sniff frequently as I walk.
As I was walking, I was thinking of Monsanto and their products. I’ve posted quite a few blogs about this company and their genetically engineered crop seed and herbicides, especially the ever-popular yet poisonous weed killer Round-Up. I’ve been particularly upset lately as my good friend Your Enchanted Gardener on the Plant Your Dream Blog has been dealing with the poisoning via Round-up of a beautiful natural canyon that runs right through his back yard.
Thinking “what can I do about Monsanto, besides be angry with them all of the time?”
A quiet voice in my head said, “Pray for Monsanto.”
“WHAT?” my brain shrieked. “I can’t pray for MONSANTO!”
“Pray for Monsanto,” said the voice.
I burst into tears. “Spirit,” I sniffed, “You can’t ask me to do that!”
“Pray for Monsanto.”
Knowing better than to argue with Spirit, I thought glumly, “OK, but You have to give me a moment to think how I can do that.”
I took inspiration from Mandaza Kandemwa, traditional Healer and Peacemaker from Zimbabwe, who spoke on the day of 11-11-11 and told the audience that many years ago Spirit had told him to pray for his enemies, the white Rhodesians who had colonized his country and had kept the majority black population subject to an apartheid state. He related how he had avoided doing this for years until he could no longer deny Spirit’s urgings, and how praying for his enemies was one of the hardest things he had ever done.
Well, I thought. Monsanto is a company and as such is an “entity” that has an “energy” of its own. But who makes up the company? From the Board of Directors, CEO, CFO, all the way “down” to the scientists working in the labs to the “bottom” of the corporate ladder--the secretaries and the mail room clerks and the guys in the warehouse packing and loading products, the company is made up of people.
The people who work for Monsanto are not evil; they are “misguided,” Spirit told me, and I can pray for them.
So, as I walked I prayed for those who work for Monsanto. I asked Spirit to help lift the illusion from the minds of the people of Monsanto so that they might understand the true nature of what the company is doing. I asked for healing for the people, animals, plants, water, air, and earth adversely affected by Monsanto. I asked Spirit to help those who work for Monsanto to open their hearts. I asked Spirit to help them connect with the Earth, and I asked Spirit to help them connect with Spirit.
After I finished praying, I felt a calmness that I haven’t felt for awhile. I prayed for my “enemy,” and I found a bit of peace.
Blessings,
Liora
