Gnat problem swarms around supervisors
I just read this article in the San Diego Sign On San Diego about the severe Gnat problem that is coming from an imbalance in nature in the North County area.

SAN PASQUAL VALLEY — They call it the “south Escondido wave,” the act of quickly moving your hands in front of your face to keep gnats from sucking bodily fluids from your eyes, nose and mouth.
Gnats, eye gnats to be specific, are tiny bugs that swarm on hot days and have long been a problem in Jacumba in East County and more recently in the south Escondido area in the general vicinity of Kit Carson Park.
The connection is that both gnat infestations are linked to a couple of organic farms where they lay their eggs, hatch and then fly off by the millions to annoy people. Kids sometimes are kept inside during recess at nearby schools. Gardening in the backyard is tough if not impossible. Golfers swear they’ll never come back in the summer to The Vineyard golf course in Escondido because they can’t concentrate on their swings because of the bugs on their faces.

This may not be the most perfect solution, but with only 90 days to come up with some answer for a deep seated problem that may include finding other ways to find birds and animals that eat gnats and other annoying bugs, I would recommend we explore this new invention from my friend Tony Tracy.
