What did I say I would do this summer????
Rechecking the game plan...

FUNDING FOR VIDEOS

There are a number of small video projects I want to make in the
Organic Uprising Series.
I want to tell the story of Organic Uprising at the Enchanted Garden.
the home where I live with eight others. This will begin with
making a video about our Hole in the Porch Gathering of May 8, 2011.

MAY 8, 2011

Pius Ngiela, of Kenya, background, a housemate, Cara Cadwallader
of the Prosperity Hive, and Malaki Obado of Kenya, helped
at our Hole in the Porch Gathering. Obado runs the International Rescue
Committee Aquaponics garden. Both Pius and Malaki are from the same
village, and met here through Your Enchanted Gardener. Meetings like
that happen in the Enchanted Garden, a name for our renewed earth
that grows one seed and seed dream at a time.
Is it possible that through an extended community and house residents
fixing a hole in the porch we can bring more wholeness into the world?
That’s my premise.
The “Hole in the Porch” Video will further teach and inspire others about the work
of community living and our struggles to learn to live cooperatively and to find a way in the midst of all asked
to grow some of our own food.
THE ENCHANTED GARDEN COMMUNITY KITCHEN

Angelene Frattalone, housemate, prepared soup
from Hillcrest Farmers’ Market Produce.
I want to further create a kitchen here where organic
products will be used and touted. I want our home to inspire students
at the nearby university to find their beat with nature.
FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
AT HOME

I SEE AND SEED THAT A PORTION OF THE FUNDING
FROM STONYFIELD FARM AND OTHER FORTHCOMING CO-SPONSORS
WILL HELP TO DEVELOP THE INFRASTRUCTURE THAT IS NEEDED
NOW TO GROUND SOME OF THE VISION HERE
AT THE ENCHANTED GARDEN INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
The attempt to continue The Great Experiment of
eight people attempting to live together in
this urban environment is to be applauded.
The house has been here since the early 70′s.
The Enchanted Garden intentional Community is a 1/3 acre natural oasis
within walking distance of a 35,000 student population at San Diego State University.
We are preparing to serve our local San Diego State Community
as a hub where students and neighbors can see food growing and experience cooperative living.
The house needs to be refinanced. The property needs to be purchased
from the other co-owners. During summer 2011, I want to spend some time
looking at this. A fundraising campaign is needed. The house also needs
to be stabilized. Income is not keeping up with expenses. I need to look at this
with the help of others during summer 2011. Funds will help set up the
necessary infrastructure for better financial record keeping.
NEW ENERGY HERE AT HOME

One of our new housemates is a 19-year woman volleyball player
who loves to cook and garden. She will be a key to guiding more and more students here
from nearby San Diego State University, one of the leading schools who a
vision of sustainability. The seeds have been set for more collaboration with
the university. Some of this work of planning this collaboration will take place
during summer 2011. The land here and our lifestyle can help students
everywhere find their connection to growing food and preparing healthy foods.
ABOUT SUMMER NASH

“Played two season of varsity volleyball at Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle, Wash.,
where she was coached by Matt Cheng …
As a senior, led her prep team at the 3A state championship and was named all-tourney
and MVP at the state tournament … Named to Seattle area all-star team….

My sense is that Summer will bring great team play
to our community with her youthful presence, and championship
spirit. We need to get organized here big time.

ATHLETE VISITORS

So, what do women athletes with bright futures eat? Natural foods of course, and a good diet of gardening at the Enchanted Garden. Sophomores Lima and Brittainy, members of the SDSU woman’s track team were offered hospitality at the beginning of the summer season. Summer Nash, our new housemate, invited them to stay with us for a few days. The three women did some gardening and enjoyed some natural foods. I see our community being of great help to emerging local athletes who would like to get a winning edge through being introduced to good nutrition and lifestyle.
INVITE TO GARDEN GATHERINGS SUMMER 2011

This is a video featuring Shakti Kate Popovich,
who has brought some beautiful youthful energy to our land.
She has her garden here. She runs the Prosperity Hive, a local center
in downtown San DIego.
