ORGANIC UPRISING DAY!
BACK FROM TRIP TO
CITY HEIGHTS FARMERS MARKET
This was my first time back to City Heights
since the Cultivating Food Justice Event
April 9-10, 2011
This was an inspired eye opener!
There was a reunion meeting I wanted to attend
from the Cultivating Food Justice Event.
I came late. Kiki was talking about the
need to support the June 7 meeting at City Hall
to stimulate shifts for City Planning Support
for Community Gardens.
Kiki made some video with me about the process.
I took some other photos too.
Then, I went to the New Roots Community Farm
booth.
I have a Seed Dream that food from the New Roots
Community Farm will become some of the most popular
in San Diego.
I did some video with Bilali, one of the folks
who spent time with Michelle Obama when she was here
at the New Roots Community Farm, Apil 15, 2010.
I also did some video with a Somali farmer who was
learned to say "Local" and "Organic!"
I encouraged here to speak the words in her own tongue.
This footage is historic!
I had that sense about it.
These moments got me out of my own head.
It is difficult to face head on the many issues and
growth patterns here at home.
Bingo!
I got into standing along the farmers of the New Roots
Farm as I do at the Hillcrest Farmers Market on Sundays.
Then, I saw my Job.
This was all part of Organic Uprsising!
That is what I am doing now with the help of farmers.
I am creating the groundswell of suppport for an organic uprising!
I want to promote and bring more shoppers here to the
City Heights Farmers Market through writing about this on my blog
and standing along side the farmers from time to totime.
THere was a need for offereing this help.
THIs WORK FURTHER INSPIRES THE TIPPING POINT
I wrote about THE TIPPING POINT HERE
I also spent time with Rich Macgurne at the
City Heights Community Garden,
I gave rich Alfalfa seeds to plant.
I gave Bilali alfalfa seeds to plant in the New Roots garden.
This felt really good visiting and trading seeds with Rich
who runs the remedial garden located at the City Heights
Community Garden
Follows of that will follow too!
Then, I went to a Vietnam store.
I have the card for the healer who worked on me.
I promised him a photo.
I also did some footage with Rich.
That ties in too with Organic Uprising.
I am going add photos of Gary Hirshfield and Anthony to this
project.
THEN I CAME HOME TO CHECK ON SUMMER NASH
That is the other part of the project.
Organic Uprising at home.
1/3 home, 1/3 City Heights and outreach...
Rich is there on Saturday and Monday....I believe.
THEN I CAME HOME
I will upload my photos...
I also STOPPED AT THE AQUAPONICS CENTER
Malaki had lots of volunteers.
This was an education.
In order to get volunteers, you have to put down roots!!!!!
That is the most difficult part here, putting down roots.
I bought a Rue plant.
SUMMER NASH IS PAINTING
photo...
I will upload photos and rest a bit,
the go to WILD WILLOW FARM...
IPHOTO LIBRARY
The photos are in the NORTH PARK IPHOTO LIBRARY.
Create an Organic Uprising Iphoto Library...
Some are in New Beet Iphoto Library now...
This is what I want to do with the funding from
Stonyfield...and Anthony Zolezzi...
I ALSO DID SOME PREP WORK FOR
BIOSMART POTS
I Will ask summer to grow some...
invite summer to grow some.
THE MOST DIFFICULT PART IS COMING HOME
and grounding here
