by ohcanada

Hello World

A Canadian guy decides to sign up and write a blog detailing his attempt to water fast. 3 days have been written about so far, with more to come.

Hi there,

I've created this blog to keep track of my progress as I attempt to undertake my first fast. For all intents and purposes I will be doing a water fast, assuming I can stick it out.

A little about me first... For the past 15 years I've been working in the I.T industry. Slowly but surely, as the years went by I found myself getting heavier, my body shape changing, and my diet taking a turn for the worse. Fast forward to today and I consider myself to be out of shape and in need of a way to get myself back to how I used to be.

3 days ago I decided that doing a water fast would be in my best interests. I'm doing it in an attempt to change my inner self, with a hope that after my fast I'll start to re-think how and what I eat. Losing weight will be a bonus, but it's definitely not my primary goal.

I'm currently reducing my daily intake to make fasting easier. It would be quite a drastic lifestyle change to go from eating what I eat now to eating nothing. To give you an idea, I often find myself eating McDonalds for breakfast, snacks throughout the day, some fast food takeout for dinner, snacks in the evening all mixed in with 2 large McDonalds cokes and numerous cans of coke a day. I know, not good eh?

Day 1 saw me reducing this to two large coke zeros (I know it's no better than coke really...), a steamed bun, some chicken soup and 5 glasses of water (I never ever drink water...).

Day 2 I also had 2 large coke zeros, 8 glasses of water this time, and a steamed bun. Today was probably the worst day so far, with a major headache that seemed to last the whole afternoon into the evening. I put myself to bed early to try sleep the headache off, but ended up getting up 5 times during the night to go pee. I'm the kind of guy that will pee when I wake up, at lunch, then before bed and be good til the next day. Getting up all throughout the night sure made me sleepy the following day.

Day 3 I managed to cut out the steamed bun, but still continued with a single coke zero and 8 glasses of water. Stomach hurt a bit today but I napped through it. I didn't expect to have lost anything in terms of weight but I stepped on to the scales anyway. Surprisingly I was wrong...

My starting weight was 105kgs.
My weight at day 3 was 100.3kgs.

My mouth has turned from being really dry always to being quite wet inside. Knowing that I can go without food is quite the motivator. I just need to figure out how to cut out the coke zero now.

Will update this blog as I go along.
