#S 510 is running into problems as of December 2.
It passed the Senate on November 30 in a rush job
that had some inherent errors in it. That's what happens
when you betray the hopes of America the Beautiful.
You cannot take down the power and beauty of the original
American Dream that depends on each of us rising up to be
Stars in a Rock Your Soul Opera called Beet Keepers, Return!
Manley P Hall wrote a book called "The Secret Destiny of America."
It describes the mystical events, little known, about the Amazing Grace
that overshadow ed the birth of our nation. #S510 is inherently flawed
and a contaminat ed bill. It's passage, in its current form is being returned
to the Senate by the House. It may not pass at all during the Lame Duck
sesson, is the latest reflection.
I had a stunning revelation at the Hillcrest Farmers' Market Sunday
November 28. So many of us were smiling totally unaware how blessed we are
that we can support local organic farmers in San Diego. We do not see
that they are truly an endangered species, as is our remaining endangered real food supply.
Most people in America simply do not know what food is and this allows passage of
Food Safety bills that are not in the public interest, although the superficial intent,
ending contamination is sound.
Most of us do not recognize that democracy is no longer a spectator sport (John Vasconcellos,
Politics of Trust Network). I am willing in the next year to be a lobbyist
for our local community, using the resources of the Plant Your Dream Blogs
and Websites to help build the bridge between the world in Washington
of 100 + 435 elected Congress people who need help understanding
what real food safe is.
I am asking that you personally support me in this through joining the
BEET KEEPERS for $18,00 a year or go to this other
link and make a donation in any amount, even $.99 cents, to show
that you want me to act in your behalf.
I need a staff both paid and volunteer to do this enorrnous work.

was loading up his remaining things as part of the take down
of this Micro--Far m. The farm was a successful experiment in growing
Food as Medicine for seven years in San Diego County.

The slap to the forehead Meta added was that part of the project was
mobile, an app. I had just been thinking of supporting a site (more
later).
I put out some feelers and got a very positive response Fran Avendano
(pr4prog.org). She wants to put her own efforts in and begun by
passing along 4 contacts from the food world:
Leslie came to last week's Drumbeat organizer meeting and talked about
the importance of local food and assisting the farmers and the
markets. He suggested a foots on the ground tour of the Hillcrest
Market, which he does every week.
I'm joining him for one this Sunday at 11:00, w/ a Zi8 pocket cam and
will post results.
We might be able to put together a message on S510 the Food Safety
Modernization Act of 2010, which is on the Senate's plate right now.

I am wrapping up a first phase of exploring what the Campaign to Educate Washington on Real Food Safety
is going to look like.
I have drawn in two new graduates from UCSD
in sustainability who is helping prepare new websites
and I am aiming to have a specific site up soon on the Campaign that may show up on the
new Beet Keepers site, and new techie professionals who want to help.
There is also an outstanding Techie who is beginning to made videos for the Campaign.

I think you are absolutely right about turning what you've begun into a year long thing.
You've established a theme and a goal; get to know your senator and make 1,000,000 phone calls. You've a way to track your progress.
The things I'd think about adding are expanding the idea, at least for you personally, is getting in touch with the FDA directly and try to develop a positive give and take with them.

I have been extremely engrossed in #S510, the Food Safety Modernization Act.
I am learning a lot about how Washington works now, as well as seeing
that the task at hand is building a community locally that is actively aware
of their role in determining the future of our government.
I see the HIllcrest Farmers' Market, my local Farmers' Market
as the place where I will take my stand to build a circle of influence
with shoppers as well as produce educational videos to educate those
in Washington.
I see our kitchen being a center where students from PCOM, the Pacific College,
the growing of local food, and foods going into the kitchen our prepared.
This too, will be a series of education videos. I am invited to begin
doing some guest spots in the classroom at PCOM with a friend who has authored
a book called "Ancient Wisdom, Modern Kitchen."

Thanks for the vote of support and leads to The Wisdom Conference
and the idea that the Beet Character can be on Farmville.
I want to do a project that begins to focus on what the Senators eat and create a series of
videos that connect them with the living breathing life of the small farmers and the Hillcrest Farmers' Market
where I invest a lot of my time each Sunday.
You inspired the focus, based on the idea of Farmville.
I want to to take on the local Hillcrest Farmers Market,
where not more than 5% of the shoppers have Washington in there sphere of influence.
The Campaign is going to create a living breathing community who come to see
that Democracy is no longer a spectator sport.
The Videos will then focalize the local community at the Farmers' Market and then
begin to connect this up with the Senators and House members.
Working on #S510 has been a great introduction for me to
other national leaders who are involved potential in the need for the transformation we are talking about.
