PROPHET MOTIVES
One of my dearest of friends, Makeda Dread Cheetom
gave me a call yesterday. Of a handful of women who
I consider the First Ladies of San DIego, Makeda is one of them.
She has been on my trail for a week or more.
I was too in crisis, and my plate was too full, to return her call.
Makeda and I share warm fuzzy memories.
She once had a place of Conscious Commerce in
San DIego called the Prophet Restaurant.
There is going to be a book about that Restaurant
before long. Makeda has standards.
Once, George Harrison of the Beetles showed up.
He wanted to smoke in her restaurant.
She asked him to go outside to smoke.
She simply would not allow George Harrison
or anyone else to smoke in The Prophet Restaurant.
The Prophet Restaurant:
It was located in a low income part of town.
That is a sign of many who develop Conscious Commerce.
They place there businesses where they are needed.
There is another woman I admire.
I am just getting to know her.
Every time I am around her,
I have a sense she gets me.
During the months I was selling
trees to help save the Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery
she came by and bought a plant or two.
Her name is Diane Moss. She is up to a lot of good
in the world.
She runs the People's Warehouse in San DIego.
She is about starting Farmers' Markets in places
called Food Deserts. Food Deserts are places
where people do not have the same choices
or opportunity to eat other than junk food.
Do you get the picture?
Can you see the similarity between Diane Moss
and Makeda Dread Cheetom.
Their Soul inspires them to go where they led.
They set up Oasis of Soul where they go because
their Soul is Active within them.
Then are driven by Prophet motives,
more than Profit Motives.
