Buyer beware
buyer beware. Doctors do not always tell you everything.

I was referred to the back pain institute in La Quinta California to see Dr. Chris Peters for two herniated disks. I was in great pain and at his mercy. I had expressed that I could not afford his treatment and asked if my insurance would be accepted. He told me no, my insurance would never pay for such a thing. He then continued on to tell me that his clinic was the only one of it's kind with special equipment I would not find anywhere else. He also boasted about his training in Neurology however that does not appear anywhere in his title. He did everything he could to make a sale (except be honest). After I put the amount on a credit card, I have no way of paying off anytime soon without avoiding lots of interest, I then found three other clinics in my area that do the same treatment, one of which has the very same machine. Here is the kicker, they except my insurance. I find it hard to believe anyone in business would not know they're competitors. If this doctor had any integrity at all he would have suggested that I search out one these other clinics first. At the time he told me my treatment sessions were complete I told him I was not even back to 60%, I was not expecting 100%, however I was lead to believe 85% was doable. He explained that based on the information he had entered into the machine, the machine determined how many sessions I would require, and refused to give me anymore. Why would the doctor not make that determination. I walked away feeling as though I had been taken advantage of. I also felt that after spending as much money as I had he at least owed me some explanation. During that conversation he admitted to trying different programs with other patients and getting better results than what the machine had determined, yet still did not give me more sessions to try and help heal my injuries. Do not misunderstand, I still believe in this treatment and if you can afford it I would recommend you try this. Also in all fairness there was physical training to follow up the work on the machine however I could not afford any more and had to walk away incomplete.
