I am in the press room at
AAAS. The theme of the AAAS
is advancing science serving society.
I gave my PLANT YOUR DREAM Blog card
to MOLLY at Press Reg. Molly graduated
from University of Illinois in Urbana.
Two very beautiful and intelligent woman
working for AAAS behind that Press Reg desk.
I am sure I am going to meet some really great people
here. MICHAEL GREISMAN, the webmaster for AAAS
was the first person I met in the Press Room.
I will send him some photos for the AAAS website.
There is another site I want to check out
called SCIENCE. Michael brought it up on his
Mac. The rest of the computers in the room
are Gates types.
This is the first time that AAAS has come to
San Diego in its 146 year history.
It is going to be an honor having
a front row seat on the cutting edge of Science
and how it desires to help society.
I asked MICHAEL SWAIN of the DAILY MIRROR
in London to take my photo here in the press room.
I asked him about his interests.
He will be writing some things about sharks and dolphins.
He is aware that San Diego has a lot to say about
that subject and many others. Our SCRIPPS CENTER
for OCEANOGRAPHY is world reknown. I heard
PRINCE ANDREWS of MONACO speak at UC a few months
ago. He had a strong Climate Change message.
He also writes about environment issues.
He told me there is a "row" over GMO foods in London,
but not much to write about relating to organic.
Organic has priced itself out of the interest of most
people in London, he seemed to be saying.
The Prince of Monaco went to the South Pole.
There were clear signs of climate change there.
There is a sign behind me KAVLI FOUNDATION
that did some work at the South Pole.
I am looking forward to meeting ROBERT T. FRALEY,
the man responsible for more shifts in our thinking
about ag than anyone I know on the planet. He is the
chief scientist for Monsanto. He speaks on Sunday.
His talk will be on SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
FOR DOUBLING CROP PRODUCTIVITY BY THE YEAR 2030.

PROVE IT! Is ORGANIC FOOD ANY BETTER FOR HEALTH
THAN CONVENTIONAL GROWN FOOD?
The trend at the AAAS appears to lean toward
GMO's over Organic. How either really been tested
by science? Is Risk Assessment enough to say
GMO's are O.K?
