Healing Herbs
a bit of a discourse about medical marijuana
Date: 1/18/2010 6:59:12 PM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 13904 times Here in Vibrational Health Village (my name for Boulder, CO in this blog), within a very short period of time, medical marijuana clinics have sprouted up - well - everywhere. I honestly do not think that when the Colorado voters ok'd whatever it was that has caused all these clinics to sprout up all over the Front Range that anyone knew it would look quite like this.
Sure, I'm part of a generation that for the most part smoked a lot of pot in it's day...but I don't anymore. I am pretty sure that is not what colours my opinion though. I've thought about it a lot over the past several months actually - done lots of introspection.
I didn't know at first why the proliferation of the "clinics" bothered me so much. I've realized though that it does bug me that those who run these clinics present marijuana as a sole healing herb with every possible healing property ... reduce pain, lessen anxiety,
etc. and logically it is unclear to me how a plant/drug that is primarily a hallucinogen could possibly ease anxiety for anyone except as a placebo effect. Someone please explain to me the science of such claims, please?
People are making a lot of money and driving up the price of marijuana. There are the benefits to the municipalities...these business are or soon will be paying fairly high taxes, I'm hearing. I would simply hope that the citizens will have a voice in what these specific taxes are used for in the community.
What I have said to a few of these people, and will say here now is this: all sorts of amazing healing plants - roots, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, etc. grow from our earth. It is a lovely process learning about all of these and starting to utilize them in my life...I started back in the 70s with my studies of Dr. Edward Bach and the Flower Remedies, and my studies have blossomed and evolved from that time to this. I help others whenever they want my help, and continue to heal & evolve myself...in the most natural ways possible always.
Sure, mj is a healing herb for some. It helps with glaucoma, and cancers. And some say it helps with pain, and PTSD.
There are other botanicals and natural remedies that would also help substantially with all of the above. MJ is not the only one, that's all I'm sayin'!
But it is represented as if it is, at most of these new clinics.
I have no idea what will happen with all of this, whether it will lead to the legalization of mj or not. Certainly one could argue that since alcohol is legal and can be shown to cause more behavioral, health, and legal problems for humans than marijuana ever could or would, why not legalize it? What difference would it make?
But for me, I will continue to study flower essences, and other botanicals, and continue to recommend and utilize those in my healing practice. Lets not forget the powerful healing properties of plants other than marijuana!
