Mind Blowing Healing Treatment

I had a mind blowing healing session last night
with doctors--East and West--who are part of
the PACIFIC COLLEGE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE (PCOM)
DOCTORAL PROGRAM. I am up very early this morning--
3:50 AM writing about this experience.

I had a mind blowing Acupuncture treatment
after dark yesterday. The acupuncture treatment
took place at the PACIFIC COLLEGE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE
San Diego Campus, a place where the
ENCHANTED GARDEN MOBILE,
my 68 VW Van and I have been driving
on a weekly basis for many years.

In the history of the college,
if all the acupuncture needles I have used
had been saved and melted down into
some award, similar to the Oscar they hand
out each year in Hollywood,
I would have a metal sculpture
likely the size of an art object
bigger than one of those Oscar trophy's
itself. I have been getting acupuncture
treatment down here for about 14 years,
sometimes twice a week, sometimes intermittently,
consistently once a week, for more than two years,
other than between trimeter breaks.

Since the beginning of my treatment
14 years ago, I have been the recepient
of a lot of acupuncture needles.

That is a lot of needles.
That is a lot of treatments.
The treatment I had last night
was one of the finest in all these many years.
It was definitely the longest.
I arrived around 5:24 PM.
I did not get home till after 9 PM.

BEST ACUPUNCTURIST OF THE YEAR?

At Your Enchanted Gardener's Annual Award
Ceremony, a number of the acupuncturists
who worked on me would definitely be
nominated in the catagories of Best
Acupuncturist of the Year, as well
as Acupuncturist with the Finest Bedside Manner.

I will talk about three of the
candidates for Your Enchanted Gardener's
Healing Arts Award in this PLANT YOUR DREAM BLOG.

BACKGROUND

The sun goes down early these days
of December in the northern hemisphere.
We are coming close to the darkest night,
of the Winter Solstice.

My meridians often go South for the Winter.
That means, the healing power within me is less
than it is during the longer days of the year
when there is more sunlight.

I have an ongoing condition of
Anglyosin Spondylitis. This is a form
of arthritis as named by Western Conventional
U.S. Medicine. IBS, inflammatory Bowel Symptoms,
are associated often with the profile of a person
who has Anglyosin Spondyitis.

I can have persistent diarrhea that can last for years.
Other years, or months of the year,
I do not have diarrhea at all.
Beginning right before Fall of 2008, diarrhea
again began. I have had it for the most part,
almost every day, since that time.

TOILET PAPER USAGE

That represents a lot of downed trees
in the rain forest, a lot of single ply
toilet paper from SEVENTH GENERATION.

MAIN ORTHOPEDIC COMPLAINT

Aside from the IBS, there is my main
orthopedic complaint.

There have been times in my life
when I have been totally and completely unable to walk.
There was one 18 month period when I could
not spread my legs apart more than 1/4 inch.
It would take me more than an hour attempting
to raise my pants from a chair up to my hips.

I remember a time many years ago,
somewhere around 1974, when DR BERNARD JENSEN,
my spiritual father was lecturing on a Sunday morning
in the room we called the barn at the old
HIDDEN VALLEY HEALTH RANCH.
I really, really wanted to walk the
less than 50 yards from my room
to the lecture hall. I never made it.

I was so stuck in my body, so unable to move or bend
my hips or spread my legs apart,
so unable to get my pants on by myself,
so completely on crutches,
that I finally gave up and just went back to bed.

DR BERNARD JENSEN

DR. BERNARD JENSEN, my spiritual father,
the man I introduced years later when he spoke
at the PACIFIC SYMPOSIUM more than 14 years ago,
the man who has influenced the lives of
countless numbers of people through his
more than 50 books, and his relentless enthusiasm
for the Natural Healing Arts,
had his name mentioned last night during
the first of a number of acupuncture treatments
that I had with doctoral candidates who are part
of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM)
Doctoral program.

Dr Bernard Jensen gave a wonderful talk
that night many years ago. He spoke at a dinner
outside. I had called JACK MILLER, the president of
PCOM. I got him on the phone. I told him about
my relationship with Dr. Jensen. That was the first
time I ever spoke to Jack. He o.k.ed me introducing
Dr. Jensen before his talk.

That was the last time the good doctor spoke
at one of these internationally reknowned conferences
put on my the college. Dr. Jensen came and spoke.
I spoke and stayed. Some after, I began receiving treatments
down at the Mission Valley Campus.

My treatments were a trade for services rendered.
I would bring flowers to the campus.
The flowers were a gift from the RODRIGUEZ FAMILY,
local flower growers and organic farmers, now
sixth generation farmers. You can find the Rodriguez Family
behind the name JR ORGANICS. The third part of this
triangle is that I would encourage the students of
PCOM, and there are now around 400, to shop the
Hillcrest Farmers' Market.

In recent years, since the creation of the JR ORGANIC
CSA program, numbers of PCOM students have joined
that CSA. The CSA has a drop off point at the college
each Thursday.

There is a current move to increase sales from
PCOM students at the Hillcrest FM, and get more
students joining the CSA. The enthusiasm for Joe
and the market has never been higher.

WHERE TO FIND JOE AT THE HILLCREST
FARMERS MARKET

Most Sundays I am in town, you can find Joe Rodriguez Jr.
and other members of the family across from the music
at the HILLCREST FARMERS' MARKET.

I am generally at his vendor stall by 11 AM.
At times, I will be pitching purple beans, or the
love berries, strawberries picked that morning
before any of us are normally out of bed on a Sunday
right after daybreak.

Even on the mornings when I am circulating around
the Hillcrest Farmers' Market either networking
or picking up the weekly food, one of my first
consistent stops is with Joe Rodriguez Jr,
a big hearted local organic farmer, and one of my closest
farming friends. Joe is portrayed in my writings
as JOE THE FARMER, a man who never, never, never gave up.

BACK TO LAST NIGHT's TREATMENT

I had no idea what I was in for last night
when a spot opened up for me to be treated
on the 'Doctor's Shift". I anticipated being
home for a 7:30 PM meeting by 7. At 7,
I called CHEF JEM, one of my housemates,
to let him know I was just getting on the table.
I anticipated being home by 8 PM. I did not
get home till after 9 PM.

I will likely write this blog in parts.
I need to get back to bed.

SCHUBERT C. JOHNSON,
WARREN SHEIR,
and MARK GRASSNER were the
three acupuncturists who treated me.
DR JENNIFER CAMPBELL, M.D.,
a retired family practice physician
was also part of the consultation team.

I work with Warren Sheir every week
in the PCOM clinic He is the supervisor
over student interns. I was surprised
to find him as well as Shubert, coming
out to welcome me after I filled out
extensive paper work.

Warren, who I consider a friend,
did the orthopedic part of the treatment
last night as well as treated aspects of the
IBS.

Shubert, as well treated aspects of the IBS,
as well as did some needles to loosen up my shoulders.

Shubert did some ear points that were extraordinary.
He also treaded some needles through my scalp.
I do not remember too many treatments at PCOM
that have worked those points. He is a practicing
acupuncturist for more than five years in Naprville,
Illinois. He flies in for the doctors program
once a month for 18 months.

The doctoral students are here from Thursday until
Sunday. There are 16 students in the program.
Some of the finest Traditional Chinest Medicine Teachers
as well as local Western trained Medical Doctors--M.D.'s are
also part of the doctors program.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has defined acupuncture as “a family of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical locations on the skin by a variety of techniques. The most studied mechanism of stimulation of acupuncture points uses penetration of the skin by thin, solid, metallic needles, which are manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation.”17
Currently, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) serves as the most prevalent theoretical framework guiding the clinical practice of acupuncture in the U.S., in which clinical decisions are mainly based upon the unique clinical patterns that conform to TCM theory. In order to integrate acupuncture into conventional medical practice successfully, it is critical to develop scientific, evidence-based knowledge of acupuncture through basic and clinical research.
