DAVE HEIBERT of OMEGAMEWELL Wild Caught Salmon
serves SHANNON of LA MILPA ORGANICA FARM a
salmon burger with salad fixings. Dave, a former
salmon fisherman, is bringing the smoked salmon
to the HILLCREST FARMERS' MARKET on Sundays,
9-2 PM.
Dave is well aware of the problems that plastic
can cause on the oceans. Styrofoam breaks down
into little pieces called nurdles. They nurdles
are mistaken as food by sealife, often causing harm.
It is also the nature of these nurdles to collect toxins,
and then when the fish eat them, they move up the food
chain into the body of the unsuspecting diner.
On the scene to solve this the styrofoam problem
is EARTHSMART and its creator ANTHONY RUSSO.
A friend of KEEP the BEET Media Star,
the World's First Taking Beet plant,
Anthony and KEEP the BEET are joining forces
this Fall to begin an education project that
I know will impact the cleanup of our oceans.
Dave Heibert is exciting about having me hook him
up with Anthony's alternative to styrofoam eating ware.
Made of sugar cane, I see this project helping to raise
awareness that we can end the use of styrofoam.
I want to introduce the various sizes of Earthsmart
eating ware to the other vendors at the Hillcrest Farmers' Market.
Earlier this Summer, I began testing out the Sugar Cane
product for use as starter pots for growing beet seeds.
They give the beet a good container to start, and then
then degrade.
I will be using them around the Jewish High Holidays
with kids at the B'NAI HORIN Children's program
where I teach each year.
We have already started have artists and children
using Earthsmart as a medium.
More soon!

Water Blessing Ceremony with Dr. Emoto--This was fantastic! We chanted for about 20 minutes. The sound on this video is mostly of the wind on the water; you can hear a bit of the human chanting, and the harpsicord that sent chills up and down my spine.
