day seven. and recap of days three, four, five and six.
recap of days four through seven. too busy to be distracted - smooth sailing continues!
Date: 4/13/2009 11:25:16 AM ( 15 y ) ... viewed 2230 times holy cow what an insanely busy weekend! i have been moving and have pretty much been moving nonstop from friday until sunday. even though the move is just to the unit next door, it has been a ton of work. i dont know how i accumulated so much *STUFF* over the last couple years! its funny, everything in the apartment next door is somewhat smaller, theres substantially less natural light, but the main impetus for the move is the kitchen. its a really nice kitchen, an open layout and is a place that is easy to hang out and cook with friends as well. this is in comparison to my very cramped kitchen in my old place. my goodness the lengths i go to for a decent kitchen...but they do say the kitchen is the soul of household, and if i dont have a nice kitchen i am often not inspired to cook. and i love to cook. im already pouring over recipes for things id love to make after my cleanse!
i think i timed this cleanse just right. being so busy distracts you from even thinking about food. only a few times have i had hunger pangs, but they quickly went away with a few tablespoons of maple syrup or a little lime and maplesyrup drink...
in thinking back, the first three days were the most difficult, as many will attest to. i felt spacy and tired and i know people noticed something was different...i timed that for when i was at work (and my supervisor out of town) and where i could be in a structured environment and not have to deal too much with people. i would def. recommend laying low the first three days, watching some movies, hitting the sauna, going to bed early. my first three days after work i went to the gym - day one i swam about a mile and then hot tubed and sauned, day two i did my physical thearpy excercises for my knee then hot tubbed...day three - some knee pt and going out to see music with friends.
day four (friday) i felt back to normal again....i did my first salt water flush for this cleanse...i do my two tsp. of sea salt into a pint glass (16 oz) and drink that down and then follow it with another pint glass of water. i figure that makes the full quart, and itll mix in my belly - i just couldnt fathom a whole 32 ozs of salt water. at least you can see the end of 16 ozs! last year, i think i only salt water flushed once since i had such a hard time wtih it...but i have been diligent and swf'ing everyday since day four. you get used to it, but i cant say it ever gets any better. i always get nauseous directly afterwards but it wears off..
its funny, the biggest difficulty with the MC is the lack of diversity of things you can ingest. but i think im trying to build in diversity in textures and temperatures...so theres:
lemon / maple syrup water
lime / maple syrup water
lemon + cayenne + maple syrup water
frozen lemon / maple syrup bars
frozen lime / maple syrup bars
smooth move tea
detox tea
lemon / maple syrup / mineral water
lime / maple syrup / mineral water
straight shots of maple syrup
so depending on your definition of diversity, you can make it kind of interesting!
its funny, also, i reached my biggest weight reduction on day three...from 141 (day one) to 134.5 (day three). but it seems over the weekend i have consistently been 136. i dont know what the difference is, i havent been going to the gym, but i figure all that moving is prob. just expending equally if not more energy. perhaps i am getting swelling in my knee? ideally, i would like to get into the 120's, with my goal weight of 125. i am guessing the losses come slower the closer you get to your body's ideal weight...
i am also thinking about extending the fast and transitioning after day 10 into a week long juice fast. that is probably about the longest i want to go for because i need to start ramping up the excercise and getting in some good long bike rides in. i need to be ready for the 100 mile ride in new mexico next month, and i would like to be ready for the triple bypass in june....(100+ miles, three mountain passes). so i will need good eating for good riding...
so thats that for now...
more later!
