The Owl and the Moon
reflecting my blessings

I have just been outside to pray.
The moon is full and my cat weaved
her way between my legs as I
stood and looked up to admire
the night sky.
When at last I had seen enough
I came to sit by my desk. I could
hear outside my window an owl
hooting its song from high in a
tree. Who who~who who hoo-hoo-hoo-
hoo-who, over and over again.
I was telling a friend only this
morning I had seen a barn owl.
This owl was bigger than that
I could tell but did not want to
go look least the owl leave to
sing in some other place.
I sat in the dark and considered
how very lucky I am to be having
this place to live, in relative peace,
a little far from the places most
people live.
I feel blessed, and at peace~~
with gratitude,
