Juice Fast - Day 3
Day 3 and still going...
Date: 12/30/2008 5:01:03 PM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 1655 times When I woke up this morning I knew I had to do a salt water flush as a way of cleaning out my digestive system since I'm not doing any colonics or enemas. It's basically 2 teaspoons of sea salt in a quart of water. After drinking it, you will go to the bathroom frequently for the next hour. The stuff goes right through you. It definitely worked for me. Although nothing was removed of any substance, it just seemed like water (although it was orange - maybe from all the carrots? lol). It seemed to have a lasting effect for the whole day too. Hopefully it's helping me flush out some toxins at least.
Once the flush was seemingly out of my system, I figured I'd treat myself and make a glass of fresh tangerine juice. Mmmm, it was delicious. The tangerines are grown here in Korea and are so sweet and good - easy to peel and you'd never find a seed. The juice made me really cold for some reason, and that lasted throughout the day.
Then I made my first juice batch for the day. I'm thinking I'll make my first juice primarily fruits and then make my second juice primarily vegetables. That seems like a good plan. Especially since my fruit juice today lasted me until 7:00 pm! ;)
My fruit batch had one huge asian pear, one apple, about 4-5 tangerines, 1/4 pineapple...and a yam. The yam made it creamy! This was such a nice juice, it seemed like a creamsicle! I could definitely handle having this one again. I think I'll like to add yam again tomorrow. Apparently yam juice is great for the skin. This made almost 1 litre and lasted me until 7:00.
I just spent the day lazing around and surfing the net as usual. Didn't read or do any yoga, but did a bit of research and planning on what I'd like to do for New Year's Eve. I think I'd like to make a special tropical juice - there's a department store on the other side of town that sells mangos so I'll test those out - really too bad I can't find coconut!!!! And maybe I'll work on my vision board, do a facial, do some affirmations for the new year...all in all, nothing like the past 15 New Year's Eves of my life! This will be the very first time I haven't gone out and gotten drunk. Maybe a sign of maturity for the coming year? I think my friend who is doing the juice fast will be joining me too. I want to make face masks from the pulp from our tropical juice ;)
Around 7 I made a small batch of vegetable juice with one carrot, 1 stick of celery, few handfuls of spinach, handful of lettuce, 1 small cucumber, a sprig of parsley, 1/2 lemon, and bit of ginger. After my fruit juice of the morning it wasn't very appetizing. It only made about a cup and a half and that lasted me until bedtime around midnight. I guess one problem with doing the fruit juice in the morning is that if it lasts all day, then I'm ingesting WAY more fruits than vegetables, instead of the other way around. I know veggies are much healthier. But in the morning when I get going, I want a nice fruit juice! If I have to deal with a veggie juice all day I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep going...
No noticeable detoxing effects today either. No huge dips in energy, no emotional cleansing, no cold or flu-like symptoms, no dizziness...not sure why! But I feel about the same as when I started. Strange!
