Homeland Security and the Future of the Biotech Revolution
Homeland Security starts in our own backyard,
Keep the Beet Media Star reminds me.

I believe this may be the official Summer Solstice today.
Check that.
I will be partying with my new friends and allies
down at the Gaslamp Quarter tonight. The Gaslamp Quarter
is an incredible development project here in San Diego.
The City of San Diego deserves Kudus for
Downtown Redevelopment.
It has been a joy to be down here this week for
BIO, the Biotechnology Industry Organization Global meeting.
I will have much to share on the Plant Your Dream Blog in the weeks
ahead about what I am learning.
It has been an Amazing Experience.
Kudos as well to BIO for an excellent Conference.
James C. Greenwood, CEO and President, and his marvelous staff
are to be congratulated.
It is not an easy show to run when you have the Star of the Terminator
down here one day, and Colen Powell the next!!!!
Gov Arnold, one of my favorite people because of his
support for Gardens in the School, is a marvelous man.
I loved what he was saying in his opening comments yesterday
in relationship to his wife Maria, who is splitting the family vote.
She is supporting Obama. Arnold is going for John McCain.
The Gov made an important point.
When push comes to shove, love and family are more
relevant that political point of view. I really like this man.
I am looking forward to Maria Shriver's fabulous Women's Conference
October 22 in Long Beach. I am sure I will get a chance to share some
Enchanted Garden ideas with both of them before too long.
Back to the point of this Plant Your Dream Blog.
Keep the Beet Media Star, my locally grown organic beet
growing in a pot, is asking me to write something about
Homeland Security in light of the Biotech Revolution.
I will be addressing that theme here soon.
Just wanted to get the idea down here before getting back to bed.
Look forward to seeing Keep the Beet on the 2009 Oscar Red Carpet.
What a Media Hound! She has this thing going for Randy Olsen,
who runs Celebrity International. Randy has been involved
in the Oscars for 20 years. He is an Enchanted Garden Club Member.
Keep the Beet has a crush on Randy, after listening in to a recent
interview he gave on Radio. Her Celebrity Status has really gone to her head.
I feel she needs more time at home to get in balance.
Too many public appearances.
She will be out partying in the Gaslamp tonight.
I will likely wear my Arogant Bastard Tshirt from
the Stone Brewery. I am not much of a drinker,
however, I love the Stone Brewing Company
one of San Diego's Micro Beer Makers.
I want to make the point that supporting local farmers and food growing
wherever we liveis the first thing we can do to ensure true Homeland Security.
The Biotech Revolution believes in Globalization
and feeding the poor with Scientific Gene Modification.
They are really into some amazing Gene Manipulating.
Organic Bio Tech, based on Natural means of Gene Modification,
is based on 8000 years of experience with food crops.
The Organic Food Growing Movement supports local farming.
Keep the Beet is asking that each person get over the idea
that they cannot grow a bit of their own food right in their own
backyard! Start growing a local organic fully grown beet in a pot, sezs
Keep the Beet. Eat the Beet Greens. Anyone can do this, she reiterates.
Right now, The Scientifically-Based Biotech Revolution is growing
by leaps and bounds, but this Science is awefully new. We had to do
something with all our MIT grads, so we created quite a movement here!
Fast growth often leaves a trail behind that we need to clean up later.
Many problems Scientific Biotech wants to solve for us are generated
by Chemical Pesticides. That movement is only 150 years old at most.
They are generated because little folks around the world have no
land to grow their own food and little support to remember how to do that.
Back to Maria Shriver, our First Lady, the Governor reminded me it was her dad, Sargent Shriver,
who started the Peace Corps as well as VISTA, Volunteers in Service to America.
Jesus! While we here at BIO are hot to make Biofuels, and supporting
Ethanol to keep our SUV's on the road, I read recently that there are starving
people up in arms around the world who are missing the corn we are
turning into Ethanol.
Many of the problems we create for ourselves, come simple out
of rushing to innovate without thinking through the problems
we are creating in a world that truly is very much connected.
The folks in Pakistan have a nuclear arsenal. They are not exactly
the kind of folks I want to be angry at me because I want to use my
corn as a biofuel.
Then, take a look at Iowa this week.
Ouch! The town in Iowa that had the Tornado
was one of the big ethanol growers before Mother Earth
blew through town less than ten days ago. Is there a connection
between the recent tornadoes in Iowa, flooding, and the way we farm
in Iowa? I would like to get some BIO science as well as Intuitives
looking into that one.
Back to my point of Homeland Security:
Right now, we are outsourcing more and more of our organic food supply
as well as conventional food supply.
For true Earth-based Homeland Security, I am glad that close to 100% of
all the food that I bring into our Intentional Community kitchen here is San Diego
is grown by farmers that I personally know.
Here we are in San DIego, less that twenty minutes from the International Border.
Our approach to food growing is more and more ask Mexico to grow our food.
At the same time we are building border walls to keep immigrants and migrant
farm workers out of our country. What kind of relationship are we creating?
Does this make sense?
How much good feeling are we creating between the food grower down there and the person who
will be eating that food up here? Do you want that kind of energy on your food?
In World War 2, we had VIctory Gardens. We were growing 40% of our food supply
right at home. We had too!
Scientific Gene Manipulation is bringing us some marvelous innovations,
fuel ideas, healing ideas, and Ag ideas to feed the poor
but it is not the only approach that can work?
Whoa! I think we better put a little more Research dollars into figuring
out how Science Based BIO Tech and Nature Based Bio Tech can sleep
in the same bed.
We need to find ways to take the best from both worlds, Scientifically based BIOTECH,
as well as Nature Based Bio Tech.
Nature based Bio tech is based on 8000 years of Food Growing Wisdom.
Look at the writing on the wall, Science-based BIOTECH has the inside track
in many ways in the business world. At the same time, are you sure you
personally want to head into the next decade without knowing how to Keep the Beet with nature?
Lots More to come on this theme...
and lots has been writing on this theme here
on the Plant Your Dream Blog.
Welcome!
Your Enchanted Gardener
