Moms! Are you concerned that your family is not eating as healthy as you'd like? Do your kids even know what a fresh vegetable is? (French fries don't count.) Have you longed to enjoy the simple pleasures of country life and the deliciousness of food straight from the farm?
Be sure to join us for this fascinating way for children and their parents to gain an understanding of where their food comes from, the benefits of making good dietary choices, and a taste of the wonders of nature.
Pennypickle’s Go Organic Day is designed to help families discover - in a fun and hands-on manner - the science and philosophy behind organic and natural foods and other products; to learn about Community Supported Agriculture and the Slow Food movement; and to gain knowledge on how families can help to keep not only their bodies healthy, but to keep the earth healthy as well.
There will be LOTS of fun things to do and discover and we can't even list them all because there's so much!
It'll feel like a farm around here, with animals and bees and planting seeds. There'll be praying mantises and lots and lots of ladybugs (these are all the GOOD bugs, remember???). You'll get to try yummy samples or take home a bag you can use over and over for groceries and stuff. You'll see how a typical kid's lunchbox meal can be soooo much healthier - and taste good, too!
We are pleased that Rick Sanger, author of the children's book "No Eat Not Food" will be signing copies of his book all day, and entertainer Joel Reese will be performing in the afternoon.
Entrance passes will be available for $5 per person - each pass will allow you to choose 5 activities or samples. (Admission to the Professor's workshop will be considered one activity.) Sorry, but children under 3 are considered too young for many of the Go Organic Day activities and will not be given product samples.
Session times for museum entrance will begin every hour and will last 45 minutes (example: 10 a.m. to 10:45; 11 a.m. to 11:45, etc.) There will be a limited number of guests allowed inside the museum at every session. You may purchase your entrance passes online if you prefer to reserve a particular session time. Your passes will be held for you at the will-call table.
Be sure to tell us which session you would like to attend.
