About my Fruit Detox
The who, why and how
Date: 1/8/2008 11:31:58 AM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 2928 times As the new year begins, I am determined to get healthy once and for all.
I am 18 years old and female.
I lack energy, feel ill all the time and have terrible sleeping patterns, I eat very badly and even though I am gluten and lactose intolerant I never stick to any proper regimes. I am carrying too much weight for my very slight frame which I have gained from poor eating and not listening to my body's needs. This means I feel uncomfortable all the time as well as sluggish and unfit.
Fruit has always been very beneficial to me... I love all kinds, I can eat it all day and night, it gives me energy and just feels natural, as if it is what my body intended me to eat.
I have been looking into the benefits of fasting and detoxing for a few months now, and I've found differing opinions on everything.. a case of too much information, perhaps. I feel like plain water fasting or even juice/liquid diets are too difficult for me, I am likely to give in and fail very quickly when not being able to eat at all.
So I have devised a less strict detox, one where I can eat as much fruit as I want, but only fruit, for 30 days.
I have anticipated having some problems, and if I truly want to cave in; I am allowed vegetables or vegetable soups. I feel these are nutritious and healthy and wont hinder my detox too much if only indulged in every so often over the 30 day period.
As it is Summer here, the fruits I am expecting to eat a lot of are mostly Oranges and Nectarines. Oranges are more acidic and thus speed up the detox process. The most important thing is I won't be limiting my intake or counting calories... just eating when I am hungry til I am full.
I really hope to finish this, it would mean a lot more than just the physical outcomes, but would also make me feel validated and as if I have achieved something.
