A little about me.

Howdy everyone. I don't expect many people to read this, but it helps me to pretend someone is!

I thought I'd share my health and fasting background, so that people can get an idea what it took me to get to this point.

I'm 23 years old. For most of my life I ate what is considered a healthy Standard American Diet (SAD). This means, no soda, no preservatives, no packaged food, lots of fruit and veggies, but no attention to food combining.

When I moved away from home, at 18, I started to be interested in health, starting with weightlifting. I wanted to gain some weight, being skinny all my life (6'3" 170lbs) At first I was really interested in lifting techniques and I did grow some majorly nice muscles over a year. However, I knew that my diet was holding me back, so I started researching diets and health more and more.

I eventually stopped weightlifting, but I still exercise regularly

The next year I was really into Yoga. Not so much the poses, which I think are GREAT, but the whole mind body philosophy, and especially cleansing. I did several shatkarmas, loving them all and the clean feeling they gave me. I became immensely flexible and neared contortionist level. I still ate meat, and wasn't very careful about my diet, and that hurt my body at that point.

I started sungazing at that time, and went for a few months, all the way to 12 minutes before I moved to the city, which made the practice impossible.

The next year, I moved into my own apartment, which allowed me more and more time to do what I wanted, as well as complete control of my diet.

I bought a Champion Juicer and filled my fridge with fruit for months. The ONLY food in my house was healthy, no junk food. If I wanted junk food, I had to get up and walk to the resteraunt or the store, which I rarely did.

I completed several juice fasts, the longest was 14 days, but there were at least 5 - 5 day fasts and more 1-3 days fasts than I can count.

Then I moved back home in order to save some money, while going to school.

This restricted my fasting a lot, since the people around me were always worried about my fasting. I did a 7 day water fast, an 11 day master cleanse fast, and a 14 day orange juice fast. In 2006, I completed my first 40+ day fast.

Since then, I've fasted only to correct my body, when I started eating unhealthy.

Over the course of almost 2 years, my diet slowly started to get worse. Taco Bell became a common lunch, and I ate out much more than I should have.

My weight is now 200 pounds, and I'm clearly not in the best of health.
