Dear Friend,
We are living in an incredible time of transformation. People everywhere are opening their hearts and giving generously to make a difference in the world. Each year about this time, millions of mailboxes, both virtual and real, overflow with requests for donations to support the work of non-profit groups all over the world. Those of us at the Fortunate Blessings Foundation know that to solicit your attention, your resources and help takes time and money – a peculiar irony given that this is exactly what we need from you.
Over the past few years, our focus has broadened greatly as our work in trauma relief reaches many new places devastated by natural disasters. Recently, massive flooding in Mexico and Bangladesh has left thousands dead and hundreds of thousands homeless. While other groups carry on the important work providing food, water and shelter, few relief organizations address the desperate psychological and emotional needs of children and families who have been badly traumatized. That has been the work of Fortunate Blessings; in fact, our efforts in Sri Lanka following the tsunami of 2005 and in Java after the earthquakes in 2006 were nothing less than extraordinary in their efficacy and far-reaching impact.
With limited resources, we are simply unable to respond to every crisis, but before another disaster strikes, we’d like to be better prepared to assemble a trauma team as soon as possible. This takes money – funds in reserve that we do not have. Think of your own day-to-day life, and how an emergency somehow always seems to unexpectedly strain your bank account; indeed, the same happens with us. We know that many groups seek your support right now; what we can promise is, that with your help and generous support, we’ll try to make an even bigger difference in the lives of many children than ever before.
Closer to home, we continue to offer courses on topics that align with our conviction that what we commonly experience as "inner" and "outer" worlds are really one. Exploring this holistic model allows us to offer courses on health, design, sustainability and personal transformation. As we do, we always remember to count our blessings and be grateful. We invite you to join us.
If you haven’t done so, please take a moment to visit our revised website:

Thank you for your support, and for the good wishes and thoughts we’ve received during this year of challenges. Thank you for your actions to make the world a better place. And thank you for helping us spread fortunate blessings where they are needed most. We wish you a healthy and happy holiday season and New Year.
