Did Poems @ Westgate
I read some poems tonight
at the Westgate Hotel Plaza Bar.
This hotel is renowned and is across the street
from Symphony Hall.

Felt sick much of the day.
May have been something I ate yesterday,
and also some toxins right outside where I slept last night
at a farm in Vista.
I stayed up there so I could visit with Judith Larkin Reno
I was sick a lot today, but recovered enough to keep my
intention to read a poem at the Westgate.
Ron Nash had gotten an O.k. from Julio to do that.
Julia liked what I did. It was the first time that Daniel
Heard me read.
It has in a smaller spot than last week. This was in the Plaza Bar.
Last week was in the lobby....more room.
I felt intimated at first. Wasn't sure this was my venue,
but I felt a bit more secure after checking in with Daniel.
Angelene drove. Anna went and so did Paris.
Paris was in a great mood, and supported my birthday in a big way.
I got a good reception for my first poem.
I kept it short. Daniel had just done "On Sola Mio" and called up Bernardo to
sing too. I like how they do that.
I asked Daniel to do one chorus with me. I interspersed some of the lines
from "Your Creation!"
Daniel said I was talented. Julio was impressed with the words.
I felt it would be stronger if I did it without being interspersed with a singer.
I think it can work.
Later in the evening, he called me up again.
I did two more poems to another performer.
They were well received. I was my natural self.
One mother complemented me. She did not speak English.
I lot of people come down here every Monday night. They are from different
cultures.
Daniel comes down a lot.
These are professional singers and artists.
Daniel has about 25 students.
Some very lovely and beautiful people.
I life this venue.
I had no place to read poems.
I was invited back to this event, staged by Julio.
Julio gave me one of his CD's. I am going to listen to it
and see what tunes go to my poems.
It felt good to be appreciated.
I have a performer bent, and it was good to express myself
tonight on my Birthday in a venue with other professional singers
and musicians.
