I'm Pickin' Up Good Hydration 15 y
This Summer, Stay Wet on the Inside
The human body consists largely of water -- muscle tissue, for example, is a surprising 75%. In the course of a normal day, we lose some of this water, and, like a car with a leaky radiator, if we don’t constantly replace what we lose, we can go from well-oiled machine to wheezing wreck. Everyone has seen television footage of marathon runners stumbling towards the finish line, their disorientation and spastic-like movements clearly indicating an extreme state of dehydration. These graphic images highlight the crucial role that water plays in virtually every bodily process, and the problem ... read more
Dangers of Your Morning Shower 15 y
A look at the negative effects of showering with unfiltered tap water. A lot more than meets the eye!
You wouldn’t knowingly bathe in toxins every morning, or set out to harm
your lungs and sinuses, irritate your allergies and skin, or willingly
increase your risk of cancer. But the fact is, chlorine and its by-products
in your shower water are toxins which can damage your health.
These toxins are:
Chlorine: Added to most municipal water supplies, this disinfectant hardens
arteries, destroys proteins in the body, irritates skin and sinus
conditions, and aggravates asthma, allergies, and respiratory problems.
Chloroform: This powerful by-product of chlorination causes excessiv ... read more
Why 'Purified' Water is Bad for you 15 y
by Zoltan P. Rona M.D., MSc
During nearly 19 years of clinical practice I have had the opportunity to observe the health effects of drinking different types of water. Most of you would agree that drinking unfiltered tap water could be hazardous to your health because of things like parasites, chlorine, fluoride and dioxins. Many health fanatics, however, are often surprised to hear me say that drinking distilled water on a regular, daily basis is potentially dangerous. Paavo Airola wrote about the dangers of purified water in the 1970’s when it first became a fad with the health food crowd.

Alkaline Water and Stomach Acid, by Sang Whang 15 y
Among the people who question the validity of alkaline water, the biggest question is, "What happens to the alkaline water once it reaches the stomach, which is highly acidic?" Let me answer this question once and for all.
Among the people who question the validity of alkaline water, the biggest question is, ”What happens to the alkaline water once it reaches the stomach, which is highly acidic?” People who have some knowledge of the human body, including medical doctors, ask this question.
Let me answer that question once and for all to erase any doubts about the health benefits of alkaline water.
In order to digest food and kill the kinds of bacteria and viruses that come with the food, the inside of our stomach is acidic. The stomach pH level is maintained at around 4. When we eat food and drink wat ... read more
What are antioxidants and why do we need them? 15 y
A closer look at antioxidants
Oxidation, which is a regular function of cell metabolism, strips an electron from certain molecules. These molecules (sometimes called free radicals) then take an electron from a nearby molecule to “repair” themselves; which means that the nearby molecule may take an electron from another molecule, and so on. This cycle of oxidation ends when an electron is taken from a molecule which has an “excess” electron to donate. These “donor” molecules are called anti-oxidants and are provided by nature in vitamins C and E, Beta Carotene, Selenium, etc.

Alkaline Ionized Water and the Skeptics 15 y
What do we actually know?
There are those who are skeptical about water ionization. They claim that alkaline water is of no benefit because -– although the theory may make sense -– there is no proof.
On the other hand, there are those making extravagant claims for the benefits of alkaline ionized water. These are easy targets for the skeptics.
And then there are the millions of consumers, hospitals, doctors and other health practitioners in Japan, Korea, North America and Australia who take the health benefits of water ionization for granted.
So, what do we actually know?
First of all, there are 3 objec ... read more

Water, Water, Everywhere…but not a drop to drink?
You’re thirsty after working in the sun on a hot Saturday afternoon. You head to the kitchen and pour yourself a cool glass of water and gulp it back greedily. The immediate effect is to cool you down, quench your thirst, and re-hydrate your body.
But did you give any thought to what it’s doing to your body? It’s true that doctors suggest we drink 8 glasses of water a day, but if you don’t drink the right kind of water, it can have a harmful effect on you!
Wait a minute, you say: “The right kind of water???” How many kinds of water are there?
The answer is: several!

Alkaline ionized water--the answer to correcting your acid / alkaline balance.
”International studies show that populations with little or no history of illness, such as cancer, drink higher pH (alkaline) waters. After all potential risk factors were considered and factored out, it became evident that they had been drinking waters with a pH of 9.0 to 10.0.” Dr. Leonard Horowitz in ”Aids and Ebola”
Alkaline ionized water “first came to notice in Japan, where researchers noted that people drinking water that came from certain fast-moving rocky mountain streams enjoyed extraordinarily good health. It turned out that this naturally occurring water was alkaline and had ... read more
Correct your acid / alkaline balance with the water you drink:
What the experts say.
In health circles there has been much recent talk about acid / alkaline imbalance. Let’s see if we can clarify how experts recommend we correct this imbalance.
Your body functions best when neither too acid nor too alkaline. Unfortunately almost all of us have become acidic due to diet, drinks and stress -- both psychological and from pollution. Acids can build up in our body, causing systems to be out of balance.
According to Dr. Stefan Kuprowsky, “Acid wastes build up in the body in the form of cholesterol, gallstones, kidney stones, arterial plaque, urates, phosphates and sulfates. These acidic waste products are the direct cause of premature aging and the onset of chronic disease.”
When this occurs, the body w ... read more
