            i am not a good one to ask about losing wieght as i am actually too thin, yes i know everyone these days thinks thats not possible but its true.

            when i fast i don't set a time period i just listen to my body and do what i feel is right, but others have success at settiing a specific time period and sticking to it. but sometimes setting a specific time period for a fast and then not meeting that time period leads to feeling like you have "failed" when in fact you have not, afterall you succeeded in fasting for however long you fasted, so that is not a failure.

            if you are new to this i would personally recommend starting off with a shorter fast, say 3 or 4 days, then breaking it, then attempting a longer one etc. that will probably make it easier, as fasting is like anything else, you have to learn how to do it. there are all kinds of things your body goes thru and you have to learn to notice the withdrawal symptoms from food. your body is like a spoiled child right now, it wants what it wants and wants it now! now now!!! sugar and fat and brownies and fritos and ice cream gimme gimme! so you have to teach your body patiently and caringly like you would a child that there are better things to eat, and that not eating is in fact the most healing thing that it can go thru right now.

            don't repress your desire for food, acknowledge it and accept it, and then go make yourself a big glass of fresh juice. talk to your body, tell your body it is the temple of the Spirit and that you love your body and want to make it happy by being healthy and strong and that fasting is the way that is going to happen. dont hate your unhealty desires, that only makes them stronger, accept your desires for sweets or fat and then set about creating new desires for healthy and vibrant foods like fresh juice.
